    Video Game… things

The video game world is flooded with hobbyists beating me to the punch. Rather than try to beat the established collectors on their home court, I figured I’d ask my paintball community.

I have my basement being finished and a “man-cave” or “game room” is necessary. (As if my whole house doesn’t already fall into this category. Ha.)

The basement isn’t done yet and I’m not 100% what I’m looking for yet, but I’m doing a little window shopping for now and see what, if anything, catches me eye.

Vintage wins. I’m grew up in the 90’s. SNES, n64, PlayStation, GameBoy, etc etc. I’m not limited to this, however.

Show me what you’ve got, systems, games, decorations, kiosks, advertisements, etc etc.

We can perhaps come to a deal, either cash or paintball trades!

    Thanks,
    riot

homerj has hooked me up with all sorts of awesome video game stuff throughout the years. I think I have an original PlayStation at my folks’, it’s yours if I do.

I normally don’t sell out my personal collection simply because i pretty much only buy what i actually want to play. So unless it’s run across deals that are too good pass up i typically don’t have doubles. I do know a guy who buys lots specifically to flip whatever he doesn’t want for his collection. He’s a good guy & usually pretty fair with his prices. I’ll see what he has & let you know. I’ve got a line on n an original Xbox if that’s something you might be interested in. It’s a girl that works with me. She’s supposed to be bringing everything she has to work at some point. I remind her every couple of days but so far it hasn’t done much good. I’ll get my hands on it soon i hope. She mentioned having a DS too but didn’t know what model. Beyond that, i do actually have an extra Intellivision i might part with unless that’s TOO retro. Ha.

homerj - I appreciate all of that. As far as an original Xbox, I’m not too interested in that. I’m sort of trying to figure out what I want my focus to be. I find myself being more into nostalgia than video games and my Xbox days were limited to Halo Lan parties in the early 2000’s. Basically, I would probably only look for an Xbox if it was dirt cheap or something super special, like a Mountain Dew edition (but in the latter case, that’s probably too prestigious for a beginner collector such as myself.)
I could be interested in the DS for the right price.
The initial intention of this post was to try and find a paintballer or someone not into gaming that wants to just offload some junk in their attic for a few bucks, so we both win. I get a collection started without paying premium gamer prices and they get some coin in their pocket and some free space in their homes! It seems you may be a collector in the gaming world already! Which is awesome, but probably going to hurt my wallet more than the guy who just wants stuff out of the closet. Ha! That said, If you’ve got your stuff displayed in some sort of game room, I’d love to see it. Feel free to PM or post up, if you want to share. I’ve been watching gameroom tours on YouTube for weeks! Haha.

Finally, the Intellvision… I do love me a good portmanteau. However, I’m probably not interested in that for any nostalgia purposes, as it predates me by about a decade. Haha.
But once again, if the price was right, it would be a great display piece to get started with, just not something I’d really be willing to invest much into.

Appreciate your response, hope to see some of your collection! Also, hope I didn’t just come off as a cheap F. I’m not trying to beat anyone, as mentioned above, just hoping both parties can benefit!

        Thanks!

& sorry for the novel, it’s 3:30am and I’ve lost control of my life. ;D

No way you’re cheaper than me. Ha. I’m trying to work on that as it’s cost me to pass up on many many things that i majorly regretted later. I’ll check with the guy & see what SNES, N64, etc. systems/games he might have. I’ll take some pics of my game room setup but it’ll be much less impressive than most of the game room tours I’ve seen. I’ve got a lot but I’ve always struggled with the best way to display/organize everything with the limited space i have. Right now I’ve got most of my games on wire shelves i got from a local GameStop that closed a while back. I’ve got almost all of my systems hooked up too. It doesn’t look the best but i like having everything ready to play when the urge strikes.

Have you considered an Emulation Station build? If you're tech savvy, it's an easy way to get pretty much every game ever made (up to about the PS2 era) on a system the size of a mini console.

I’ve considered the raspberry pi, but that really takes away from the look of it all. That’s just function over form and I’m definitely more of a form of function type of guy. Ha.

Still, I may consider it down the line just to have.

I think I have an extra N64 or super Nintendo in my stash, I'll take a look.

I have my systems all hooked up ready to go(except my atari 2600). When I built out my basement I decided to make my consoles the center point. all my games are in my utility room on shelves between the studs.

Love it. I had a 3do years ago, but sold it eventually. Along with Dreamcast and Genesis. Picked it up at a lot for like $100 off Craigslist. It appears those days are gone!

That room is actually fairly small. I’ve long since outgrown it but it’s what I’ve got to work with so all the misc. cables, controllers, etc. are in totes. I’ve had that 3DO since about 1995ish. I had a Goldstar before that but when it became pretty obvious the 3DO was not going to be around much longer i got worried that the disc tray eventually break & i might not be able to get it fixed so i traded it in for the FZ-10 since it’s got the clamshell lid. I go to shows, conventions & retro game stores every chance i get & hardly ever see 3DO consoles.

Any interest in Sega Saturn stuff? I need to dig it all out of storage, but I have the console, a few controllers, Nights, Christmas Nights, Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei, I think Bug, Sonic 3D Blast (which is the best version. The bonus levels are awesome), and a few more. What do they even go for these days?

If you're into importing, there's a massive library of excellent games. But even the limited American library is fun as hell. Good luck with Panzer Dragoon Saga though that game is nearly $1k nowadays.

If you end up getting this Saturn a good investment would be an Action Replay cart flashed with PseudoSaturn. That will allow you to play games from other regions plus repros. I definitely prefer original when possible but in the case of some games (such as the above mentioned Panzer Dragoon Saga) they are simply too expensive. A lot of the Japanese versions of Saturn games might cost a fraction of their American counterparts.

I actually had a chance to buy Saga for $120 back in 07 or 08. I should've jumped on it, but I thought "Nah, it'll come down in price." BOY was I wrong!

Hey, thanks! I actually have my original one too. Same as above, I don’t need this but for the right price, I could always buy and display it somewhere.
I’d be interested in the action light, though I’d have to do some research on that!

That’s a heck of a start to collection right there! That N64 Castlevania is not nearly as bad as a lot of people seem to think. I liked it at least. That Wavebird controller is the OEM Gamecube controller to have too. Very nice.
