If you want to go cheap and have a relatively authentic Genesis experience, pick up one of those new retro remakes. I have one that looks just like a gen 1 Genesis (though, a little smaller), came preloaded with a bunch of games, and was stupid easy to hack an SD card and add more games. I have like 200 games on that sucker now.
Controllers are Bluetooth, but it is compatible with Genesis controllers AND cartridges. It's a wonderful system.Comment

Honestly, I just want it for the aesthetic, as the Nintendo Switch has a TON of the NES, SNES, Genesis & n64 library on it. Plus, they sell the wireless remakes of all of those controllers. (Well, I dont know about all, but at least the Nintendo and Super Nintendo ones.)
That said, if it looks the part and will hook up to HDMI... That could be an option!
