Hey all,

looking for a working 98 custom. I’m interested in building a bolt action, single shot 98 - with the ability to use the standard feedneck. I will be cutting the shell up and repainting so color does not matter.

bonus points for pictures of cool Tippmann builds, I don’t have my build 100% planned but I do want to put a bolt on the right side of the receiver to charge for every shot. Probably remove the forward grip, maybe not.

I know this is MCB, so asking Why is almost ridiculous. But I can't stop myself. Why are you converting a 98 to bolt action? Since you don't already own a 98 to mod, why not start with an existing pump platform? Traccer, Maverick or original Hammer.

I have a 98 but it’s already modded to be a magfed stengun. I have a few traccers and phantoms. Interested in a 98c for nostalgic purposes.

I still have a bunch of the US army Carver ones that might suit your needs they already don't have the foregrip so you wouldn't have to worry about cutting that up. The only real downside for your situation is they do not have asa and the body uses a funky mount. To run a bottom line setup you would need to do a little tinkering and drilling and figuring out but the valve mounts same as any other 98 so you can run something like a bucket changer straight into the valve if you're looking to keep things light

Those have identical internals to a 98?

Are they in a polymer shell?

My wife found this today at a local used stuff store they want $55 for it I didn’t buy it as I have no use for it. But if you want I will ship it to you. Untested but it looks barely used. It’s got the original box to.

Thanks Chucky! I’m good though. Maybe it’s the quality of the photo but that 98 looks smooth and has no markings on the side of the receiver ?

It’s got the standard raised lettering it’s just blacked out. Not sure if it came that way or something someone did. It looks like it wasn’t used much if at all.
