Machinist to make a run of phantom dropout valves?

I've noticed there's a seemingly neverending demand for phantom dropout valve. I was thinking about getting a list between Facebook groups and MCB to see how much demand there actually is and approaching a machinist to make a small run of these guys.

Is there some fatal flaw that makes machining these more difficult than I'd imagine, or is demand just lower than I'm thinking?

I guess I thought the 'New CCI' was either making those or planning on bringing them back.

I could make some- I already have the knob - but if the new guys are planning to bring them back, themselves, I shouldn't waste the time tooling up for them.

Anyone know what their opinion is?

I thought the drop out valve body was a low demand item. Hence why EV chose to not produce any. Doc you could offer the drop out valve with either left or right. Instead of bottom to vary your product some?

Impact don’t you have an ICD changer?

Doc makes a valve that takes the ICD lever body for a few different Nelson markers.

I'm not a big fan of the CCI dropout I feel like it don't seal instantly and wastes air. Doc’s knob definitely helps. But every time I have used one I found it more cumbersome and slower than a standard bucket.

I always liked their simplicity. Get the knob just tight enough and then one quick ass twist you’re in business. The classic dropouts allowed for different length carts without having to think about it. The line si changers of the time were adjustable for that length from the rear but not as convenient as icd’s sprung pin.

Maybe it’s just my technique and lack of experience with them. I could never get them to seal up instantly and it took me a long time fumbling with the knob to get a 12g back in it and charged. I have to say the Doc knob definitely makes it more user friendly. It’s definitely worth making the knob longer like that and textured good.

I'm with Chuck, I found the rear dropout to be more hassle than a VSC bucket. I do like how clean the marker is without the air line. I've considered one of doc's knobs to see if that helps

I would def buy atleast on more… I have many phantoms and would love some different style quick changers. I do really like the ICD version. Wish I would have bought two back when he was making them….

Those things are sweet if I didn’t have a custom black walnut stock on mine my Dad and I skeletonized, bedded and floated I would probably own one myself.

They aren’t as well thought out as the mdt’s, krg’s, or mpa’s chassis system but the are very reasonably priced, and they where the only one that offers one in left hand for the ruger American.
