    Spyder pump for dummies

So I've been wanting a new toy but I have a Spyder One just sitting at the bottom of a gear bin. Could I convert it to pump by just removing the striker o-ring so I have to manually recock to shoot? Thinking I make a 2X4 pump handle and clothes hanger pump arm to grab the bolt and call it a day. Janky yes, but will it work?

Not really. You’ll get crazy hammer bounce and it would be open bolt because the bolt and hammer are linked and the valve pin is designed for blowback. Meaning what ever you use to cock it back would have to completely disconnect because you’re not going to get a hammer, bolt, pump arm and pump handle to move forward in any manner especially if you’re already going the jankiest route

So the answer is no, you can't just take the striker o ring out. It will rebound so bad.

You need to either do the mod to the valve pin to close it up, or get an 11/16 cocker valve. Mine is using a Trilogy valve.

Mine is also running at roughly 375psi. I did some of the old OtterSC LP mods, like opening up the air passages in the VASA. I'm sure you could make one run on 850psi input pressure, but I went with low pressure, and it's really nice on paint, and pretty consistent.

The other thing is, you kind of want it to be closed bolt. Most people cut a slot in the striker to achieve this, I went a different route. I made a split pin between the hammer and bolt. More info on that in the thread in my signature. You want the pump to be attached to the bolt, so it can push the hammer back when cocked, then close the bolt so the port is lined up on the bolt.

I've wasted tons of time on this thing. I started the project January of '21 and only have been able to start using it this year

Yeah I'd look for a 11/16 valve with a valve stem that's not meant for blowback. Then also remove the hammer o ring.

Both of those should make it so it will not blowback after firing. How you pump it from there is up to you
