A couple more feednecks modded and shipped. Hoping to tackle a few more things here shortly mostly limited by the toolholders and collets. I will have to buy some more.

Trust me, no matter how many tools you have, it's never enough.

(And that's not a "tool addict" thing- it's literal. I had to buy almost a dozen new tools just to get those changer knobs done. )

        Doc.

Well after a minor fiasco with wear compensation resulting in a significantly shorter trilogy frame.......
We have a t slotted trilogy frame....that is shorter and may need new grip screw holes drillled..

If anyone is looking for a project frame, i know of one....

Got a few things nocked out today.
Drilled and tapped a 2k4 body for a eblade eye and screw. I also did the feedneck mod.

Removed the bosses from the bottom side of the inception hornet body and drilled, enlarged the 8-32 screw to 10-32 and drilled and tapped the new screw hole.

Put a xmt phoenix emag together that came back from anodizing. Went together nice and smooth.
Video will be up on youtube here shortly.

Finally got some more time on the mill.

          Feedneck modded
          minied
          banjo bored, thread milled, chamfered
bottom cut flush with the body
          site rail removed and rounded
          ram mount removed.

Still trying to dial in the profile for the ram mount but this came out pretty solid for the small amount of machine work I have actually done from scratch.

It all comes with practice. I know it annoys me when I can't figure out how to tell the machine to do something I can do manually with my eyes closed.

Well boys minor update. I was finally able to figure out my issues with the machine simulation. This should help protect some from user error.
Now to figure out if the stock i have in the garage is big enough to make this fixture and to dial in the tool lengths to avoid crashing.

While i know this seems minor, it has taken me at least a month of fiddling with. Click image for larger version Name:	image.png Views:	0 Size:	91.2 KB ID:	555154

Be sure to use the tailstock on the outer end of that fixture bar. You'll of course have to center-drill it, but it'll had a good deal of rigidity to the setup, and significantly reduce the chance of chatter.

Reverse jaws to enlarge contact point tombstone no fixture plate no tail stock and short to keep the vise on the table.

          #97
The part didn't turn out perfect mostly due to the super long stick out, but this was more or less making something that i could use the 4th with. It took a little while to get it ironed out, but worked pretty flawlessly. Now i need to figure out what i am going to do about fixturing for it.

I need to play with it some more and figure out how to actually hold them in the 4th better. Will likely end up spending a bunch of money on a new vise with serrated jaws...

Ya I am getting closer. Really hoping to have a cocker body milled before I take on any actual design work. Still a little unnerving watching the machine zip around.

Had someone reach out a couple weeks ago and his freeflow millenium body threads were toast. So I bored the threads and then a little more, made a new press fit plug that is empire spec and sent it with some green loctite for good measure. Super happy with how this one turned out. Sending another one home.

I was also able to bore another cocker body for 11/16, not pictured. Much happier with the finish on that one too.

Well Got some stuff done today.
Body fixture made, holes are in the right spot. Few things i'd like to do better, but still learning at this whole thing.
Trilogy body that i previously minied has now been nominated as the first victim.
Got op1 done, cut the top and feednecked.
Op2 was roughing and finishing, started finishing, but got a few alarms on the machine. It looks like the voltage in is higher than what the machine was set for, so i will have to dig into that. Not sure if that is a new thing, or if it was doing that before, but didn't have any issues. I did run the machine a fair bit today between the fixture and the body.

I was about 5mins into a 40 minute surfacing operation when the spindle started slowing down. That seemed like a good point to call it a day. lol

Remember that body from the last post......
I need to move my feedneck back a smidge in the cad base file and maybe adjust the detent location a tough.
Overall for my first real attempt at doing this much surfacing, it came out pretty solid. I have a list of things to fix for the next one though.
