Just picked up a nice KP-3 (a real one, not that new Azodin thing) and I am wondering what to do with it. It is functional but shows its age so I am considering just doing a restoration or I am pondering something else. Problem is, I don't know what that something else is. I do have a full machine shop at my disposal and I am looking for suggestions.

What to do with a KP-3

If I go the restore route, it will probably just be a good clean, stock refinish, maybe wedgits and some new hardware.
If I go wild, one thought is to stay a pump but go more modern with some rails and machine a custom rain cover, definitely not a silencer."but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

Of course, bolt action is always in play as well"but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

There are plenty of KP3s on the market so go wild with it. The first mod that you will want to do is make a velocity adjuster out of the trigger group. Then maybe a quick strip slot or move onto some valve work or some brass work if you are confident in your abilities.
If you plan is to resell, leave it as it is. Heavily modified brass guns aren't selling like they used to. If you plan to keep it, do whatever mods you want to make it a personal gun.

I have decided on a path forward. I have her all stripped down and am in the process of machining a small sight rail that will be soldered on. Then I am planning to polish the brass to a mirror finish then do wedgits and nickel plate it. The stock is going to be refinished with the goal of matching the color scheme in the photo.
I am going to run a 13ci air tank on the bottom with a female palmers stabilzer for velocity control. I may have to port the valve a little to get the velocity up for use with HPA but we will see. Also, might go bolt action, ya never know."but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

If you want to save yourself some work on the trigger group I have a trigger block that doesn't have the safety on it or trigger but has already had the velocity adjuster mod done to it....just transfer your safety and trigger and it's ready to go. It's not pretty but it works,I just don't need it anymore.
