MQ2 Typhoon/Stroker

I have been teasing this build for a while now but I finally have all the pieces in place to make this happen.

The plan is simple, gut the lower tube and turn a sleeve to fit inside that houses the MQ2, attaches the LPR and feeds air where it needs to go. Then it is just a simple matter of making a cocker to Sheridan adaptor for the frame and tuning.

Here is where I am starting. 2 beat donors, a working e-blade and a working MQ2:

I could do eyes but I need to figure out exactly where they go. If it was a vertical feed body, it would be easy but there isn't much room under the angled feed. I could go on top which I think might be the way

They are both pretty rough right now, I am going to tear them both down and see what is usable then didn't really have a solid plan for the leftovers. Was considering doing a pneumatic assist lever action in a KP stock with the leftovers or might just let them be prayed upon by the MCB vultures.

The markers pictured are not Typhoons, they're Strokers... automated Sheridans, rather than built from scratch. Strokers aren't as efficient or smooth as Typhoons.

I have a nice stroker I wanna make a pneumatic assist lever myself. I almost have it working as a semi if the finicky 3 way would cooperate. I figure gettit working as a strokerproper, use it in at least a game, then lever it out.

After much disassembly and debate, I decided to go with the vert feed body. It took about an hour but I finally got the bottom tube clear and ready to accept the MQ2 insert which I am hoping to turn tomorrow. I also decided to just cut the front of the bottom tube off so I can use a proper cocker regulator.

I think we all remember these markers being the best thing ever back in the day. Problem is, once we get bitten by nostalgia and take one to the field we realize how slow and finicky they were. I can't speak for the quality of the built in LPR but I am looking forward to having some proven parts on this thing. Not that an MQ2 and eblade is really proven on a Stroker

I always dreamed of pps guns, but saw one in person til my adult life.

Now fast forward to now, and I'm working at a stroker and when the bolt cycles it seems like it'll be a blast. Though the trigger pull is like 5 pounds.

If the 3 way would seal consistently it would work. But now ya got me doubting my dreams. Lol

The LPR is literally a Rock. PPS packaged it into an aluminum tube to fit a Cocker. Other than the difficulty in accessing seals for replacement, there is no difference.

Your 3way should be tossed and a new one from PPS purchased, if its a brass bodied valve... those are old stock Cocker 3ways that PPS bought from WGP to use and require a lot of handfitting to find good seals to max performance.

My past experience with PPS brass has been that anything made in the early 90s was great, late 90s to 2000s not so good. My Hurc runs fantastic but is SLOW, I'm lucky to eke out 5bps... a benchmark of performance compared to its contemporaries of the time (VM68, 68 Special) but not even in the same ballpark as say, an Emek.

Ive had much better luck with the old WGP 3-way and heavy trigger spring than the quick switch.

I like them over a 'Switch, but they do need some TLC to work properly... the last one I rebuilt required parts from 3 different 3ways to run smoothly and leakfree.

Nothing against Palmers, but Glenn-era stuff just seems less... glitchy... than the latest that's come out.

I wish they had made a grip frame with a built in 3way instead of cooling a cocker 3way in a gutted sheridan frame with some plastic linkage and pinned pivot ...
But this is where the blazer comes in I guess ...

There was a guy on POG and maybe here that put a race frame and MQ valve on a nasty back mid 2000s. He was getting like 25 cycles per second on that thing. I have a mpeg video saved on my hard drive from that. I'll have to see if I can find his page.
