    Ion for ION

So, been a long while since I’ve worked on any paintball project, so figured I was overdue for one. Last year, I got a steal of a deal for 6 complete Ions in unknown condition, and a full freak set with Ion and AC back and 2 fronts all for $300. Now, when the Ion was around, I wasn’t a fan. But, with age comes wisdom, and realizing you can do a lot of fun things with one.

After toying with the idea of a mech, full auto, mag fed Ion in a Thompson shell, I figured something a little easier would better fit my timeline. So, pulling inspiration from my love of brass and all things classic paintball, the plan is to make a brass body sleeve for the Ion, and have a brass spring feed and 12g changer on top, and have all airlines be hard lined.

For the regulator, I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Grneric-Cartr.../dp/B08HVDYHSV I figured I could make a brass bracket to hold it in place behind the spring feed to keep everything in-line.

Updates will come as I go, but for now enjoy a naked Ion with a modded frame.

Just fyi, those "regulator" are just a needle valve, they will not regulate pressure when they is no flow ... the "regulator" name is to look fancier than they are.

could you put a PPS cart reg/bucket on there?

That was my main concern when I saw them. They looked like needle valves, but small enough to fit the bill. The PPS reg/quick change is nice, fits the bill perfectly, if it wasn’t for that price tag. I know there’s other bucket changer regs out there, so I’m gonna keep an eye out, but there’s always options.

I would definitely recommend getting a bolt out back chamber from an XE or enmy. Much easier for maintenance.
