Saw it off of course!
I like the way the emek shoots buy I can't stand the rectangular long reach foregrip. Just felt like I had to stick my elbow out. So I decided to make an attempt at a more comfortable grip option.
First things first I chopped the grip off and filed/sanded it until it was flush with the receiver.
Next up i grabbed a scrap piece of 3/16 aluminum and got to making a reinforcement/mounting plate for my picatinny rail. Theres a nice lip in the front area above the grip for the plate to sit against and the back end has reinforcement ribs so its all nice and supported. Later I may epoxy it all together.
After I drilled and tapped the plate to accept some 10-32 screws I laid it in the tray and marked for the rear hole. Drilled that out. It happened to fall right in the middle of one of the diamond shaped reinforcement ribs. From there the rail was bolted through and voila picatinny foregrip mount. I'm still waiting on the grips I ordered to show up so I can do any final trimming and stuff, but it feels like a success.
