    The 3d printed feedneck project (and emek body file release)

    I made an integrated feedneck for emeks. You may have also seen a similar version on the enmey body I released.

    It's been a bit of a learning process trying to make something durable and functional that you can print in petg on a cheap printer like an ender 3.

    The hardest part has definitely been getting it all durable, and with quality lever interaction with the feedneck clamp. The weakest part on the feedneck is also the tabs for the lever.
    The function seems pretty easy if you have a nut and screw. I started with a nut and screw but the nuts strip away plastic like it's nothing and so you really need an allen wrench matched with a crescent wrench, which is cumbersome, so I went for the feedneck levers.

    I worked on them for many months, maybe even a year? Not sure. I lost track. 4 months ago I totally burnt out on it. I just got the energy for it all again and this sort of r&d is also why I really wanted to move to a patreon business model and focus on sharing all my work, so we can further this kinda tech together. Really appreciate everyone who has signed up for it so far! It is super motivating!

    So I'd like to figure out the perfect printed feedneck. One for PETG, and another one for more durable and thinner materials. I think we got a long ways to go to get to "perfect," but I have had a few functional renditions.


    I just got my feet wet again with this emek body I released today. I'm calling in Beta testing because I designed it 4 months ago and then didn't want to look at it again until now. I need to reprint it myself and see whats up. I got a request from a member of my patreon to post it, and I'm super eager for the help and feedback, so getting it up there now!

      On that note, most the things I will be posting for emeks are old projects. My passion is in the sheridan valve type markers. From pump to pneumatic to electro, I just love the stack tubed design and how that valve and hammer system work. Lets get freaky.

    I've toyed around with drawing up a printed lever lock feedneck before. I expect you hit the same roadblocks that I did when it comes to durability. I expect it would have to be really chunky to hold up to the forces being put on it, which becomes impractical and goofy looking. In the end, I gave up on it and decided to go with a threaded feedneck adapter for existing metal feedneck designs. Maybe someday printed metal parts will become more mainstream for home hobbyists.

      yup! I ended up going for really big and thick levers that still have not been properly durability tested. I just had a break through with getting an IDEX machine capable of handling reinforced nylons so hopefully that helps a bit more and maybe can do levers for cheap for folks. I also wonder if theres a way to get the print settings right to use the nylon as a support material and print it on a single head printer.

      I also thought we might utilize an MJF machine like from jawstec.com, its like about $2 a lever, but $10 shipping, so someone might want to go that route instead of FDM printing them in nylon
