Trouble sticking to the bed

I got an ender5 and I'm running Cura 4.7 as my slicer.

other mods:
Glass bed with Elmers glue

Parameters
eSun PLA pro
heating the end at 187c
bed at 55c
6.5mm retract

everything else is pretty much default from cura.

I am having an issue with prints sticking to the bed especially off center from the bed. Now if this was a cnc mill I could probably figure out what I need to do but this 3d printing stuff is still pretty new so I'm not sure what parameters I should be looking at tweaking. So can anyone here point me in the right direction.

Bottom line up front: get yourself a PEI sheet, and never look back.

PEI on spring steel is amazing! Maybe try slowing down the first layer, tbh, I've not had good luck with a glass bed though.

OK if I go that route how necessary is something like bl touch for bed leveling. I went with glass since I knew it would not distort much with heat and stay pretty flat.

Just slap the PEI sheet on top of whatever you've got now.

Maybe I'm overthinking it but wouldn't that make a heck of a lot of thermal interfaces for the heat to get through efficiently? My stack would go Heated bed >> Ender magnetic sheet (unless there is an easy way to remove that I am unaware of) >> Glass sheet >> PEI

I have a Dremel 3d45 (its broken at the moment) that is like that but the ender5 I have came with a magnetic bed. I assume its kinda like a refrigerator magnet that is somehow bonded directly to the heated bed. I know its still on there because it plays hell with my gauge blocks when trying to level the bed

I keep a printer in glass and glue for filaments that stick too much to coated sheets. I had eSun PLA + on it for one roll, hot end was 215C and bed was 65C all the way through (all layers). I found the diameter a little small at 2.84 mm out of the 3mm size, so I set that too. I don't see or recall anything else unusual.

I also have a coated sheet on my Prusa Mk3, but one side has elmer's on it for the flex and petg filaments, both of which are too sticky for the coating alone. I get mixed up which coated sheet I have; I bought the printer when Prusa was going back and forth with their coatings. The flexible part is very nice though. I use the plain coated side for PLA.

While I got you guys on here what about filament? I'm using esun now for the first time I'm not sure if I like it or not it was a bit of a pain to get rid of the stringing. I have tried sunlu silk and had one roll work great and the second one was pretty much unuseable. So what is your favorite price to performance filament?

eSun has been pretty consistently good for me. Both the PLA and PETG.

My go-to filament right now though is Duramic. Getting some really great results with their PLA+ and PETG.

Other good ones from past experience:
- 3D Solutech
- Atomic
- Hatchbox
- Overture

Sunlu is one of the few I've actually vowed NOT to use again. Very inconsistent results.

Have you tried glue stick or hair spray? Even though I've got pei on both my printers, I still up my chances with hair spray. Don't get fancy. Just get done dollar store crap and you'll be in good shape.

When you spray, protect the tracks with paper or remove the sheet to spray. The spray gets on the tracks with dust and builds up over time. It's a pain to scrub off.

IDK about the ender, but my old makerfarm glass bed can bend a thousandth or two over the width pretty easily. I had to pull out the oven mitt scrap my son put under it for insulation because it was warping the bed. Don't get too involved with the gauge blocks. I admit I used feeler gauges myself, but I found the heat and rigidity movements larger than my resolution in feeler selection.
