A while back KMDPB asked me via pm how i did the blue acid wash figured i share with everyone else too.
For all steps wear appropriate ppe gloves, goggles, and respirator- Prepare a solution of ~10% sulfuric acid and 90% water. This solution is what removes the dye.
- Dye the part in the darker color first (on the blue one I used caswell blue 4A) (Doing the darker color first makes it more forgiving when dying the second color, lighter color first makes it easier to cover up the lighter one making it really hard to see.)
- Rinse the part well, keep the part wet for wispy acid wash dry it off for more cloud like effect (on the blue one was very wet)
- Wet a sponge in the acid solution then wring it out a bit
- Lightly wipe the sponge across the part. start with light pressure at the beginning of the stroke so you don't get abrupt changes between the dark and lighter colors. Rinse the part after each wipe with the sponge, repeat until you like the look
- Rinse well so you don't contaminate the dye (or sealant) in the next step
- Dye in lighter color( I used caswell fast blue 2LWN)
- Repeat steps 3-6 to get the silver acid wash. I focused on removing the center of the areas with lighter dye to make a gradient like effect.

First marker for someone else, took a lot longer for me to get it done than I would have liked but i think it turned out pretty good.

steps to recreate
1.ano at 6 amps per square foot
2.dye in caswell fluorescent yellow for about 10 minutes then rinse well
3. dye in caswell orange 2B for one minute to get the gold hue, rinse well then allow to dry completely.
4. paint the stripes on using small paintbrush and nail polish. When painting use tiny strokes using just the tip of the brush. The points are difficult the trick is to lift the brush as you pull towards the point
5. let paint dry completely
6.Remove gold not covered by the mask by dipping part in solution of ~10% sulfuric acid 90% distilled water. rinse part extremely well, then dip in diluted bleach to finish removing the dye as the yellow was reluctant to leave from just the acid. If some of the yellow is still visable rinse extremely well​ and go back to the acid. Repeat this cycle until all gold is gone from the exposed metal. End the cycle by pulling from the acid solution because it opens up the pores so that the black dye can be absorbed properly. Do not allow acid and bleach to mix you get mustard gas!!
7. Rinse well and then dye with caswell black @140F for 30 minutes. Rinse again
8. seal in boiling nickel acetate solution for 30 min (boiling water works too)
9. remove nail polish with acetone
10. seal again to lock in the gold.
11. Enjoy!

Steps to recreate lightning and fade
For all steps wear appropriate ppe gloves, goggles, and respirator​. I am not responsible if you hurt yourself. Rinse steps are to be done with distilled water

Ano at 4.58 amps for 120 min
Rinse part with distilled water then submerge in baking soda solution to neutralize all acid left on part. Rinse well to remove any baking soda residue.
Completely dry part, do not use heat to dry or the ano will start to seal and it wont take dye properly. Just get it mostly dry then let it sit over night.
Using a white nail polish pen draw lightning bolts on part then let it dry completely. I used the white one from this pack https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...2CKXKB27&psc=1
Dye in purple(caswell violet DS in this case) for about 5 minutes, or however long is needed to get the shade you want. Rinse completely.
Heat black dye to 140*
Quickly dip part and pull it back out of the black dye, repeat and every five or so dips check results. Lingering with the part in the dye during dips will put lines in the fade so don't do that.
Rinse completely, then seal by putting part in boiling nickle acetate solution for 30 min.
Remove nail polish with acetone and seal again.
