    Custom hopper feed help.

Okay, I'm still figuring MCB and pictures out so bare with me.

Long story short, I'm working on a double barreled mech ion.. this weekend I finally finished the hopper mod I had planned to make it work. In my years of hoarding, I had q bag of spare richochet shells, and 3 working richochet AK hoppers so naturally they were my first choice as a donor hopper.

All said and done I couldn't be happier with how the plastic weld worked out,but after fitting it all together and testing it I notice something I wanna address. Thats where I want your professional opinions.

Right now both hoppers spin CW relative to the motor, that means they are going opposite of each other in the middle creating a churn point.

I need to flip polarity one motor, but ive been overthinking it since.

Flip the right hopper to make both impellers feed up in the center and pull over the neck from the sides ( what I think it needs)

Or flip the right so the impellers play hungry hungry hippo for paint when you are shooting higher rof?

I figured I'm probably missing some detail.

    Thoughts?

Have you tested it with paint yet? I always found that the AK with the string trimmer line didn't popcorn paint that bad anyway. But if you're going to do it I would flip the left one.

I haven't ran it with paint yet. But the lo g fingers can clip each other in the center though they flex and just pass by.

just not sure if feeding both from center would ever create a competition for paint vs taking from the sides. Furthermore not sure if driving paint into the sides is hard on it either.

I'll mess around with settings but figured I'd get some good opinions from you guys.

Maybe throw a relay in so that only one feeds at a time? that way they are never spinning together?

If you burn one up I got a working replacement if you need it. Sounds like a cool project! Where is the rest of it!

I'm waiting for the last few fittings to show up. To finish plumbing it. Also MCB and photo sharing is hard lol. Lemme get the plumbing done and ill post some build pics.

I managed to press the latch pins and wiggle the motor leads out of its board plug, and swapped the leads there, so it should work now. I went with Hicks suggestion and swapped the left one. I threw the old batteries away last night so now its a mystery. 😆

                  Update!

these have been sitting ready to test since my last post, but my desire was low.

Well tonight I got the double barreled mech ion set firing and it got me excited.

That being said I had to test the monstrosity. Its bps per stack is pretty low, but I am alright with it. This build is for scenario shens.

it holds 362 rounds and took 23 seconds to empty so Id say its 15.7bps total. But per stack thats pretty ugly.

I will say, Im thoroughly happy with its ability to get that last few balls down the necks without stiring them up much. Making the left motor spin ccw was the right choice.

I know nobody cares, but for grins I swapped motors around so they both push paint from the outside and filled the hoppers. They emptied in 19 seconds vs 24 the other direction, so it made more of q difference than I expected.

Heres a vid I shot with the hoppers held together with a few screws to see if this configuration worked any better.

It really does! Just short of 10bps per stack that round. That should be plenty for me. I cant wait to test it out fully.

I was scrolling Ans yesterday, and they had Halo frontman, and JT revvy hopper impellers on there for 2 bucks each.

I grabbed a pair of each to see if I can make them fit in my build. Then I gotta test drop test qgain to see if it makes a difference.

I figure for the cost, the investment was worth it so see if eithwr one helps feeding.
