Why is having the same exact pistols important? There were lots of Zeus clones made, hell I tried to compile a list at some point and still didn't find them all. The PT professional for example, the Internet has basically forgotten.

But finding 6 or 10 of any specific Zeus clones will be difficult, finding 6 or 10 of any of them is much more doable.

And if the way the 12g interfaces with some of them is an issue then don't worry because the real choke point will be the magazines anyway. Finding 12-20 magazines will be very difficult no matter which pistols you find. Just as a heads up though, there are 2 different mounts for all the Zeus clones pistols and if you are lucky like with the pt professional, some of the pistols can accept both styles of magazine.

But even if you find 2 magazines per pistol, all of them can shoot those 2 mags before needing a new 12g so you can just change the 12g in the pits between games

Someone actually brought one to the field when I was reffing to show it to us right around the same time I was working on making the Delta .68 functional. Can you believe it? Lol.

Two drawbacks I noticed immediately - it fits a standard regulator and the interior volume is a straight tapped hole and also the reg is as long as the tank.

I managed to keep my overall length about the same for the reg I'm designing but I may have lost just a bit of internal volume. Might increase the diameters by .1". I also need to drill very thin holes relatively deep. I'm gonna start by giving it a generous counterbore and then drilling into that but if anyone knows any specialty #70ish size drill bits that would be super helpful.

Why not use the tank but ditch the reg then? If you are looking to make something that will replace a 12g, that tank is already engineered, certified solution that will cost 100s less than designing your own. Since you were already going to use a separate reg you can still do that and keep the internal volume in the tank instead. You just need to change the threading on your valve

And then you know, design an entire marker around that

Mostly because that tank's internal volume is less than a cubic inch. I vaguely recall reading that it's good for like ten shots if that.

In engineering school they always taught us to do all the math upfront so when you're modeling it's basically just plug and chug, and that works when you're designing something who's layout is clear like a combustion engine or something. What makes this project especially difficult is that I'm still trying to "find the machine" while being limited to piston sizes that correspond with oring sizes. I did have to spec a custom spring but at least it's an existable spring.

This isn't really about the cost, it's moreso about finding ways to bring about the technology I need in order to distill my feelings on what the sport of paintball is capable of being and present that in a format that is fun and safe so it can be shared with others.
