I would not recommend to someone to do it without proper knowledge on testing and manufacturing process method consistency
but if you make a lot of lens and measure weight and lens thickness consistency you could sacrifice couple of lens for destructive impact test, als long as you know what kind of impact test is done in the ASTM procedure
At the proper thickness (for polycarbonate its not that thick), good polycarbonate material would be almost bullet proof, often parts achieving a certain level of impact as described in the ASTM can support a lot more but the company did not pay to test more than the requirement

I´ve build me a own lense(Spectra 2.0) by using two Spectra lenses !
What should your own made lense have as special ? Or do you want a limited edition mask ???

I have saved a few JT lenses like this as well. But the lens even single pain is still ASTM certified. I would never trust one that isn’t. The masks coming out of China like those knock off Dye i4 are downright dangerous. They don’t even stop paintballs yet are sold as such. I report them on eBay all the time but nothing is ever done.

I've always thought there was a market for a more robust thermal lens. Something with a stronger gasket that isn't just foam with adhesive, and a durable inner thermal layer instead of a flimsy one. I'm sure companies would charge $100 for them, but after having 3 VIO lens separate on me after 1 day of use each, I would drop the cash for it. The VIO lenses failed because a small amount of paint got around the outer lens and rested on the adhesive foam that creates the thermal, so it lost its adhesion and came apart. I'm my fault for 1. Getting shot in the lens so much, and 2. Not cleaning the lens well enough. It really is a downfall of the VIO design, how easily paint gets in there. Other masks are much better about preventing this paint intrusion. I had to pack q-tips with my VIO lens to clean the crevasse after each day of play. I just rarely wear my VIO anymore.

The HD lenses seem to be pretty good. The ones they made for the Bk masks. Much more durable and the HD view is really good. I got a solid season with mine and I play just about every weekend so it gets abused. The newer HD lens seem to be better then the regular ones. I did take a bad shot to the top of the mask I did not like that toasted a fairly new lens but the HD seem to be made much better.
