    Machining SP1/G1/eXTCy/eNVy/Vibe solenoid covers from aluminum?

    I read somewhere that a MCB member had resorted to machining SP/GOG solenoid caps out of aluminum. I’ve got a friend with a CNC machine that he’s tinkering with, and he offered to help get some caps made for solenoids that I need to get repaired/replaced. Anyone here have the measurements or a CAD file from making such caps? Or has anyone tried this to see if it would work?

    Just thought I’d save him some time. He has calipers and can model it up by measuring the cracked cap that I have.

    Don't know if it helps but the ones I remember on here were made of brass.

      Can those be 3D-printed? I know next to nothing about 3D-printing, but it seems to me that if it was an easy fix, someone here on MCB would already have done it.

        That’s another idea we had. Either nylon or abs could work theoretically.

      I don't see why not. Originally they were plastic anyway.

      Probably because the platform is basically a relic at this point and nobody puts effort towards repair parts

        These hold pressure, right? A 3d printed one may be porous enough to leak.

            So they *cannot* be 3d printed. At least not as a single step. Sealing a 3d printed part with resin or epoxy afterwards may be an option.

              Did you print one and air it up? Makes sense that they’d leak, which is why I’m looking at machining some. Either brass or aluminum should work fine.
