    seeking advice on replacement dishwasher

Our Samsung dishwasher bought the farm.

Our insurance wants to replace it with a comparable model from GE. My mother's latest dishwasher is a GE, it's a turd. Every small part in that thing is broken.

I'm inclined to pay the difference to upgrade to a Bosh.

Anyone care to weigh in? Please share why you have the opinion. I need some real feedback.

Recently read up on dishwashers. Decided either to go with Bosch or the cheapest Miele unit available since they were both highly regarded for reliability and by repair techs on Reddit.

Wife protested that it wouldn't match our "theme," so I fixed the existing one and continue to live with it's sub-par performance. Better for the wallet anyway.

I have a GE, because I like the slate color. It's quiet, and a PITA to install. The sheet metal didn't form right or something, so the mounting holes are offset by an eighth. And, the drip pan is terrible. So I left it off because I have a tile floor.

Last house, I put in a bosch (18", cabinet faced). It was nice. No complaints.

I have a friend who sells Miele. Their reputation is warranted. If you can find it in stock (good luck!), go for it. Oh, but they require their own brand of soap tablets that foam a lot less. Make sure you're willing to put up with that.

I got a Bosh shortly after buying this house. I love how quiet it is, no issues (have it for 3 years), does a great job cleaning dishes.

I'm on my second GE. The first one came with the house and crapped out on me, the second I got used and it works great for now

I have a Bosch and I love it, super quiet and gets things amazingly clean. My only gripe is there were some thin spots in the rack coating so some rust started to appear 18 months in, only on the tops of some of the pins. Went with the little glue on caps for those ones to fix it.

Regarding fixing the current broken Samsung.

The required part is unobtanium. I would prefer to have it fixed but that is not an option.

I bought a kitcheaid last year. Best dishwasher I've had. Quiet and works. Had a whirlpool, never again.

If I'm not mistaken, Whirlpool owns Kitchenaid (and Maytag).

I'll also suggest a Bosch. We got one maybe 3 years ago. Not a single issue with it. It just plain works. Pretty quiet as well.

I like our Bosch as well. Either way, quiet is a thing. Our kitchen is close to the living room, and we don't have to schedule the dish washer around being able to hear. With the delay timers, we can run it at night, but only because of the lack of noise. So, quiet is good.

I have a Kenmore that was in the house when I bought it in 96, it still works fine and all I've ever done was replace the door gaskets somewhere around 2005.
All I've got since i haven't needed to look at any.

My mother recently purchased a very nice Bosch by way of reviews. It's a total piece of shit if you don't prewash your dishes.
IDK what is going on with current appliances. We had a super old one in this house when we moved here. Worked great. A glass just up and shattered sitting in it one day and irrevocably stopped up the drain. We have very little choice as to what will go back as it's more to do with fit than feature due to the genius who did the floors (anyway)...we got a Whirlpool, second from the top of the line based on the above size parameter. It is two years old and just out of warranty. The heating element and high temp sensor went out a couple of weeks ago. This is aside from the black funk mildew looking crap that constantly has to be wiped from inside it. It's a freaking dishwasher and can't clean itself.

Don't ask about my Samsung fridge or my Maytag stove or washer.
