i think most people, given the option to "skate", would choose ice. Just like most people, given the option between charcoal and propane, would choose charcoal. Why? because propane is so much easier, quicker, more convenient, less messy, easier to store... even though the majority prefer the taste of charcoal. its a compromise.
BBQ'ing, no matter which type you choose, is still hell'a fun, a great social event, rewarding, and excellent at bringing people together.
an ice rink would be awesome but, i think a sweet roller hockey rink would also make a lot of people happy and be a really fun time.
