a) bottle threads are not iso threads. b) bottles are designed to be easy to open... c) there was an applied torque on the cap relative to the bottle. d) coeff. of friction for clean and dry steel on steel is ~0.65 static) to ~.5 (kinetic) while PETE on PP is probably ~0.1(?). These are all critical factors in what you're seeing here.

Agree with several people here; the safety factor seems considerably low when they discuss the 55k PSI operational range and the 85k PSI detonation range. That combined with the gun not having a safe (at least somewhat) failure mode short of being a cannon aimed at your face is really unfortunate. I assume the 85K PSI was also calculated at nominal dimensions and material condition so what would that end up at on the lower side of acceptable conditions? Hind sight is always 20/20 but alot of this seems like design and documentation flaws (acceptable ammo/loads) on the firearm used. It would be very interesting to see a failure report from a third party if that is ever done.
Edit: On another note, Scott of Kentucky Ballistics mentioned in an earlier video that Serbu (manufacturer) made him a special barrel/breech for handling those types of rounds used in the video. So either the engineering behind that setup came up short or something caused a large over pressure situation.Last edited by Lane; 05-01-2021, 11:55 PM.

Saw that video. Also saw a russian guy's take on it, who said poor breech tolerances are the culprit although adamantly also goes against that and says the gun is not at fault.. (which is at odds with the request to make the heavy barrel and MG breech have poorer tolerances). Definately a funky situation..
But also notice the timing. This didn't happent recently. This happend a relatively long time ago. And it's coming to light as if it happened yesterday. I am skeptical (of what I don't know lol).

Don't know for Russian, but there was a video from a guy claiming to be from Italy responding.
Long story short, he seems to blame the cartridge.
Judge for yourself...
