My sales thread pet peeve...deleting prices

Can we make an unofficial code of behavior for sales thread, where we all agree NOT to delete prices after selling something? These forums are a great resource for helping to price out old and obscure gear, and it's really frustrating when sellers delete their prices and replace it with "SOLD!"

Just write sold and keep the price!! It's literally less work, and benefits everyone.

What’s worse is when the whole post gets deleted and replaced with “sold, please delete”

I disagree that it should be an unofficial code of behavior to not do it though.

    it should be official.

Agreed. Official. Punishment via stocks in the town square or something similar.

I'm I full agreement Magmoormaster. If we were to do this we actually could collect the information to build a living "bluebook" for paintball gear without someone having to fully manually maintaining one. Scrapping and categorizing could be semi automated. Regardless leaving the information there allows simple searches to help individuals get in the ballpark. What I like to do is go back and strike out my text for items leaving all the text there and then just label "Sold" or "Pending".

I'm in favor of making this policy, but what about situations where the agreed price isn't the posted price?

Thats not as annoying as the people who post "what is my stuff worth" just to avoid the "fishing ban".

I feel like it would be a pain in the ass to try and get people to post final negotiated prices. Even just having the original OBO price offers some kind of baseline reference when we're looking back, so in my mind it's no big deal.

I'm fine with what it was listed for, I have no expectation that actual price would be updated. It would be nice to know but definitely not what I would be shooting for. Basically when I look and in recent history when item "A" has been listed for ~$35 dollars and only 1/2 have sold I know I most likely will list of $25-30 dollars....etc. I use historical pricing to get in the ballpark.

Yes. Deleting useful information is annoying and a waste of a resource. Dumping sales threads and sellers covering their tracks are a bigger issue for me. Consistent behavior like that seems like some one is using the forum for something underhanded.

                    Yeah just listing information .

One thing we can do if it's not official is make a comment in the main thread quoting the first post.

I always forget to do that since it's a lot of work.

There is an easy way to enforce this and that is for every user to quote the original posting with price in it, as the 2nd post. I mean you don't get the final OBO prices but its something.

I looked to see if the thread titles could be updated to say "Sold" in them and if users could close their own threads. If these are possible, I can't see the options to do so.

Yes please make this a thing. Already seen a few posts with prices removed to say sold instead. I need to downsize and need price ranges to work with On stuff

Yes yes yes. Official rule: Must have a price, cannot delete it. You DON'T have to list the price it sold for, but the listed price should have to stay.

I always just posted a reply to my own sales thread that just said SOLD.
