    Dog shoes?

    Hey all,

I like to take my dog on winter outings, but the last few times we have gone hiking in the winter her paws are getting all sorts of jacked up. Anyone have any recommendations for dog shoes for winter stuff? I have a feeling she's going to hate them and fight me every step of the way, but it'll be worth it if I can protect her poor little feetsies.

    Thanks!

Ive had a pair of mutt lucks that seemed well made, but my figd wouldnt let me put em on them.

My new pup will likely need them so, Im also curious what theothers say.

We tried shoes with 4 different dogs to get them to use them and all of them would never get used to them. Now all of them were Schipperkes which are fairly stubborn/willful breed so that may be part of it. I know people with Shepherds that seem to get them trained fairly easily supposedly. I would love to have a dog that I can have go hiking with me and not have to worry all the time about pad damage. Maybe when I rescue our next dog which my wife says I get to pick out, so will be a medium sized mutt adult if I really get to choose

when we leave on trips we board my dog at a "Doggy Bed and Breakfast" She plays so much she litrally wears the pads of her feet down until the bleed really badly. So she spends the rest of her stay in the tiny dog's house (literally an entire 2 story house with just dogs hanging out). So we got her boots and she hated them, she would just look sad and would lay down and lick them. Wee tried 3 or 4 different kinds of boots, all with the same results.

She would also have similar results when the snow gets real crusty and we play outside a lot. So we put Bag Balm on her feet before she goes outside, and that seems to help a lot. We will put it on once she is inside, but it tracks all over the house, which stinks, but it keeps her paws intact. If your going on real long hikes maybe keep reapplying the Bag Balm throughout the hike.

I forgot about bag balm, this may be a fix for fussy pups. Thanks!
