Good shit. Admittedly, I didn’t read every comment in the thread before chiming in. But yeah the P-01 is an amazing gun. I regret selling my P-01 tactical after I got my Shadow 2. I just felt like it was redundant but my GF got into guns during the onset of the “pandemic” and she has two gucci’d out G43X’s. And now she wants to get an all-metal hammer fired CZ, the legendary CZ ergos fit her hand better than any other all metal gun. So I regret selling it cause I would’ve given it to her, except that at the time she said it was too heavy for her. The gun bug bit her hard. She got the CAA MCK carbine kit for the 43X and then a PSA AR-15 10.3” pistol, she already upgraded it with an SB4 brace, DD rail, etc

But have you been able to conceal the P-01 comfortably? I dont carry my Sp-01 S2 IWB, it’s too big and heavy for conceal carry, as I mentioned earlier. I don’t really carry any full sized pistol IWB apart from an HP from time to time, but my main IWB carry is a G29 (10mm) its a subcompact but its closer to the G19. Glock makes the 10mm and .45 (G30) subcompacts bigger to accommodate the larger calibers and they are actually closer in size to the compacts.

Edit: Nevermind, I got the SP-01 and P-01 confused. I see that the P-01 is compact. I had the SP-01 tactical before the Shadow 2, not the P-01. Anyway, you did great, very solid choice.

Over the years I've conceal carried a Glock 26, Ruger SP101, CZ PCR Compact, CZ-75 Compact, CZ SP-01 Tactical (almost as a joke), Walther PPS, and a Walther P99 Compact.

The P99 Compact is the only one I own and carry still. All of them had varying levels of comfort to conceal carry, but it really is just a combination of your body build, your belt and holster choice, carry location, and finally what gun your actually carrying. I'm sure I could have tweaked and found the perfect combination for carrying each one, but some were naturally easier than others. The PPS was the easiest, but I found that I don't naturally shoot slimmer single stack pistols as well as fatter, double stack sub compact and compact class pistols. This is user error of course, I simply didn't practice enough with the PPS to adjust, but I also liked having at least ten rounds on tap for my carry pistol. I finally drew a line at sub compact for my personal carry, and I've stuck with the P99 Compact (it's actually sub compact sized) for four years now.

As far as feel and ergonomics for pistols in general, I'm definitely geared towards CZ's. The CZ-75 Compact feels about perfect in my hands. I was a fairly serious gun geek for years, especially handguns and historical firearms, but it became clear I really only had the expendable income for one expensive hobby so paintball eventually won out. Apart from practicing with my carry and HD pistols to keep the dust off my shooting skills, I guess I'd rather sling paint with an Automag than punch paper on a firing range.

I'm in the same boat, really. I used to be very interested in historical firearms, but find myself much more concerned with practicality. I'll probably sell off a bunch of what I have sooner or later...

But initially I was trying to justify carrying my CZ 75B or Hi-Power, but I don't really want the HP to go through the risks and rigors of carry, and the CZ is too damn big. After hearing people's experiences here, I took a look at a few compacts and wound up with the CZ P-01. Not as svelte as a Glock 19, but I prefer DA/SA hammer guns, and the CZs just got those ergos.

The sights on it are piss, though. I'll have to do something about that.

Honestly if you already have a cc holster for one of your full sizes I’d try it out for a week and see how it goes, otherwise the money you’d spend on a decent holster might be better off going towards a compact gun or a holster for one. I like to carry a light on my sig p320 compact and even with that I find it cumbersome when driving so if you carry with a light and drive/sit a lot when you’d carry I’d also look for a compact. I also found having a decent belt goes a long way too in keeping everything close and comfortable.

I personally like to carry my S&W snub nose J frame 38 revolver, with +P loads. In every day to day use, this will do the job or at least an incentive for the criminal to think twice. When camping, I open carry my H&K 45 tactical with high cap mag and laser/light combo.
