Back in the AOL Instant Messenger Days, I was in high school and went through a bunch of screen name options to figure out what "fit" me best. Turns out the first option was what stuck and all the subsequent screen names came and went. What I WANTED was SharkyTheSharkDog and I don't remember exactly why I thought that would be cool, but it was too long for AIM. For additional reasons I don't remember, I thought SharkyTrav was a good substitute. Not really a fan of it anymore but the longer it represents me, the harder it is to get away from. I don't hate it, just not as clever as I'd prefer these days.
An additional fun twist is that my Xbox tag is Shakytrav (missing an r). I camped out in front of Best Buy to get an Xbox 360 on release night, got home and set up my account while wired/tired and whiffed on the fact that I misspelled my own name until someone pointed out the difference weeks later. I left it as Shaky because I was playing a lot of shooters that showed you camera angles from the person that shot you. My aim was super spastic and I figured better to lead the charge on making fun of my own bad aim than to face the wrath of everybody who watched the kill cam after I managed to take them down.
