Anyone have a number for UPS that will go somewhere useful?

I bought something from the US a couple weeks ago and of course the guy shipped UPS despite me requesting USPS. Now I have a $25 CAD brokerage fee owing on $7 CAD of taxes.

I am able to save the brokerage fee by getting some documentation from UPS and paying the taxes myself at a border services office. The problem is they aren't sending me the documents!

I've called their customer service number 4 times each saying to expect them to be emailed by x time; which has come and gone every time. They supposedly attempted delivery on Friday (they did not) and are going to try again today. If the customer service people aren't making the guys on the ground aware they need to hold onto it until I have paid then it will be returned to sender after 3 delivery 'attempts'.

Does anyone have a contact for UPS that will actually do something useful for me?

Sucks you're dealing with this crap. I had an issue come up I tried fixing online and via the phone, but the only way it actually got sorted was going to my local UPS distribution center which has a customer center.

Even then it wasn't a home run. The first person I talked to could confirm the package was around but claimed the driver with my package hadn't come back yet even though their tracking system said it had. The second person I talked to pulled some kind of rabbit out of a hat and made the package appear after about 15 minutes waiting. Hope that gives you some ideas.

Had this issue years ago. The UPS driver was nice and told me to refuse the package and get it through customs myself. Had to go to the local UPS warehouse, get them to print a document, drive to the CBSA office, get them to look at the document and pay whatever tax they deemed owning and then drive back to the UPS warehouse and give them the document to get my item. Thankfully it was all located close by each other at my local airport. Depending on your time might be cheaper to pay the $25 as crappy as it is.

Update: the delivery driver actually came by today and when I explained to him that I wanted to refuse delivery and self declare he looked at me like I had 2 heads. He said that if I refused delivery it would be returned to sender. That would put me out far more than just paying the fee (now with an additional $10 CAD or so added on for collection). I am absolutely fuming.

I sent a very passive aggressive message to the seller about this and I will be seeing what I can do with UPS because they have done absolutely nothing for me. Also kinda considering contacting a consumer protection correspondent at a local news station over this. Seems to me like being able to self declare my goods is a legal right because I doubt UPS would offer to allow me to do so out of the goodness of their hearts. The ability to do this has been denied to me because of ignorance or malice on their part. Or maybe I'm just stupid.

That's basically what I was going to do. Only the UPS warehouse in my city isn't open to the public and I doubt the UPS store could help. I was going to get the forms emailed then I was going to go to one of the customs offices near Toronto since I was going to drive by them anyway.

But alas, the incompetence of UPS won out.

UPS is good in bald eagle territory, but not so much for maple syrup sommelier.
