    Lay offs suck

Welp it's my turn. I survived the last time they did this. I started as a support analyst, helping out users over phone, email, chat. Moved up to QA analyst. This place really helped me take a career more serious and I have been able to buy and sell a house, have a kid, move across the country and buy another house, and still play paintball in between the madness.

If anyone has remote opportunities they can send my way in the technical analyst/QA/software testing realm please let me know.

Aw shoot. Very sorry to hear it. I've been there, and it's a lonely/weird shock to the system. For me it took a long time to find a new comparable job and I was very much doubting myself before I finally did. Looking back on it though, it was a great thing that it happened and coincidentally helped further my career. I bet you'll find something quicker than I did, and maybe it will be even better.
Keep us posted on the journey, please.

Exactly how it feels right now, that I won't find something comparable, self doubt etc

Dude, I feel that! Totally understand what you're feeling, and it's hard. I'll also say that there is NOTHING in life that's more depressing than looking at job boards and applying for jobs. Just keep in mind those job postings are pie in the sky hopes and that companies know they'll never find anyone with every single skill on their list. Take it a little at a time and don't let it consume you. Feel free to keep us posted on current events here or in a PM to me. I'll help in any way that I can.

Oof that's a bummer, sorry to hear it brother. Silver lining: it's a worker's market right now and there's quite a demand for the type of work you do across the country. I'll keep my ears and ears open for ya. You got this!

Total bummer, man. PM me if you’d like - my company is going through layoffs as well, but there’s always an adjustment afterwards. We are hiring is specific areas as well.

Hate to hear about the job. Hopefully they gave severance or will facilitate unemployment for you.

The company I help run operations for has needed an alarm technician since late last year. We were forced to let a talented guy go due to some indiscretions on his part, among other things. We have been utilizing several of the headhunter sites to find what are supposed to be prospects. The biggest issue that I continually come across are people just outright lying about their experience and qualifications. I have a set of questions I ask straight away which are infallible tells on what a tech is supposed to be working with and know. I have so far performed many phone interviews and so far not a single one of them has gone past around 3 minutes, most of them 30-90 seconds. I have no time for people bullshitting me.

I know that people have a tendency to hit and embellish on high points and things they know when looking for a job. The best advice I could give is to be forthright and honest about your skills. The working world NEEDS good employees now more than ever.

Take a look at the John Deere job board. We're hiring a whole bunch of software people both in person and remote jobs. Lots of code needs written for all the autonomous vehicles that are in the works.

Good luck in the job search. As a xmas gift I was also laid off. Spent the last few decades as a QA Business Tester and they outsourced my job. Not happy but at almost 67 I was close to walking away. As a suggestion, try MassMutual.

Great job mkt! I am sure you will find something! Indeed.com seems like the big job site. Don't let your self-doubt take over. Sometimes we are our own worse enemies.

I just sent you a PM with my company's career page. Take a look and let me know if you find anything intriguing. We have operations in Virginia, North Carolina, and PA, and some others, nothing super close to you, but remote opportunities in there if you don't want to relocate

Well that took longer than expected. But my bout of unemployment is coming to an end finally. And it's something I'm actually really excited for.
