    Are Airsoft Players Cheap B@st@rds!??

    back story .....

I thought about trying out the "Game Which Shall Not Be Named" . The Larp'ing aspect of Airsoft did not appeal much, but the cost to play ie. super cheap ammo, was pretty enticing!

    I scooped up a popular model, a used G&G ARP9 for a decent price.

in typical mcb fashion, i thought it would be fun to upgrade it, so I hunted down some nicer upgrades for ie. like a smaller bore barrel, a drop stock adapter for mask clearance, better board, etc

anyhow, reality finally kicked in after a year and half going by, and I haven't played airsoft yet , and I have no extra time or money to take up a parallel hobby such as Airsoft.

So I decided to unload this dust collector!

Anyhow, I am having a heck of a time selling this stuff !

I'm losing money at the prices I have set for everything, and I've lowered the price several times already. I've put ads up on Facebook and our Kijiji Classifieds.

do any of you guys know airsoft? Can you tell me what is wrong with my ad?

Is this stuff not as cool as I think it is?

Or is it simply priced too high, which supports my hypothesis Airsoft players are cheap!

Nothing wrong with the add. Most airsofters are cheap.
Kids will rather buy a $150- $200 airsoft than a more expensive one. Also some prefer m16 mag and will buy the ARP 556 version instead of the ARP9.

So airsoft gear is typically cheap enough for people to afford brand new. You can get reliable airsoft equipment at entry paintball prices, plus the ammo is stupid cheap. I know I had a heck of a time selling off my gear, ended up throwing it all in a box and selling it for less than half of what I payed.

I also agree on the Larping aspect of airsoft. Those guys are a strange breed. I also had a tough time with people to call their hits, and just the general vibe just isn't nearly the same. You want to play cheap, go pump or, better yet, stock class. It's a much better scene.

The only one I had luck selling was a G18 with long mags, never fired and freshly imported from Taiwan, even then I didn't break even

Even in paintball, the only time custom builds fetch more than you paid are when the parts are desirable and scarce. In your own words, this is a popular model. I doubt many make it past the headline+price to even see your upgrades. I did price check your first accessory and found your price to be higher than new from a retailer, so you should definitely do some research on pricing.

Part of the issue is that airsoft stuff wears out quickly. Unlike paintball markers airsoft stuff just doesn't last. That means that buying used, even in perfect condition is a risk. Additionally, inspecting the internals is a lot harder.

Personally I do not take airsoft gear in trade at all, regardless of how "good" the deal is.

What does this stuff retail for? I can never price airsoft stuff because it’s all clones of the same real steel. It would be like if there were a dozen manufacturers of the Tippmann 98 but the build quality ranged from dollar store to military grade. Throw in brand name keyword spam on ads and it seems hopeless

You might not be marketing it in the right avenues. Kijiji is opposed to airsoft specifically for whatever reason, and obviously marketplace is the same. Airsofters might just not look at these platforms because most of the time the ads get taken down within a few hours of posting. Maybe try selling in a FB group or join an airsoft forum.
