I've been following the Fires in Colorado, because my hometown is about a mile from the southern uncontrolled edge of the Cameron Peak fire right now. That fire is now over 205,000 acres, largest fire in the state's history, and about 50% contained. My family there had to evacuate last week, and are waiting it out in Loveland, to the east.
Then yesterday the perfect storm of extreme conditions resulted in the East Troublesome fire consuming over 100,000 acres in a single day! The two fires are about 10 miles from each other now, and considering the E.Troublesome fire ran 20 miles yesterday, there is a chance the two fires could combine. Though, the fire would have to cross the continental divide to do that, so it might be a stretch.
Another one, the CalWood Fire, is burning north of Boulder as well. Though thankfully that one seems to have lost steam for the moment and isn't moving much.
All this is within a 15 mile radius of Estes Park, where I went to high school.
Anyone else following? Or perhaps affected by the fires? I know there's a few other Coloradoan MCBers.
