    Cell Phones

So i have an iPhone 7 Plus and the wife has a 7. Mine works great for its age, but hers is about to give out on here sometime soon, With that being said, I still have my old HTC One M9 and just restored it since its been sitting around? so i have a few questions... 1) what do you guys do with your old phone? donate it? sell it? etc? 2) Wife wants to upgrade to the iPhone 12, since we have a baby on the way. She wants a new phone for pictures , FaceTime, etc. when the baby is born. Its been awhile since i got new iPhone. Which is the best model to get? 12, 12 pro, 12 pro max? sorry if this sounds newby-ish but I'm not a tech head as others...

I'm personally waiting for the iPhone 12 Mini pre-order, I'm sick of big phones, but like the Apple ecosystem.

I just put a new battery in my iPhone 8. Prices are insane for these things so I don’t see myself “upgrading” anytime soon. Maybe check and see if any leftover 10’s are floating around for a sweet deal since there’s a new release.

Apple makes it extremely easy to view your battery life/health.

        Settings-battery-battery health.

it’s about $50-$75 to replace at a certified Apple store/partner.

Please do not go to a mall kiosk as they probably make more money selling the battery back to Apple than the cost of the 3rd party battery they put into your phone.

take the time to look at your settings- privacy- location services ... to make sure your phone is not consistently looking for towers to ping off of. Keep most of the apps on never or at least only Willie using application. Some people have them consistently updating and killing the battery.

if you have a 8 or above, I would not upgrade, even a 7 is a solid performer.

Having a nice camera on the phone for when baby arrives is a very good idea. You’ll take a huge amount of photos with the new addition and it’ll make your wife feel happy in what is no doubt a difficult time to be having a baby. Get an iPhone 8 or above mostly for the wireless charging. The X, 11 and 12 cameras are a lot better than a 7 as well.

Groove Book is an App that lets you put 40-100 photos in a small book its very inexpensive. You get it in the mail monthly allowing you to remove space killing photos. Something to consider when having a baby I have like 4 phones filled with baby photos. It’s a great way to save space on older phones.

The newer IPhones take really nice photos especially in Portrait mode. Great for kids photos. Storage then becomes an issue. Thats why those photo apps come in handy and you get actual photos. I don’t post photos of my kids online so it’s a great way to share with family as well.

If she really likes her older iPhone then I’m gonna suggest the iPhone SE. Released this past April and costs $400. It’s basically an iPhone 8 with the iPhone 11’s processor. I FINALLY made the jump to a smartphone a few months ago and picked up an SE. Good phone for the price. The camera isn’t as good as the high-end offerings, but it’s not bad. If the camera must be top-tier then look at something else.
