Looking for info on Phantom Duckslide

Pretty much as the header reads. I’m interested in hunting one down so I was looking for some info on them. Who made them, are they still available in some capacity, does anyone have one for sale, etc.

    Give me the deets.
    Thanks everyone in advance.
Real sucker for all things Phantom

They were made by a guy named Mongo, and the later runs were produced by vkc. There used to be an old dd68 website that had info and assembly instructions, but im not sure if it's around anymore.
The fixed feed tube can take a bit of getting used to on em.
I have a duckslide with dsp frame, and its one of two markers I have no intention of letting go. They sure are fun.
    Patrick.

Edit* mOngo worked for vkc, all of the redux and duckslides were produced there.

Do you remember the old URL? I wonder if it's on the Wayback.

I was able to get in touch with Mongo over the phone probably 4+ years ago. He was having some health problems at the time though so I’m not sure if he is still producing the Duckslides.

I believe he has a website with his number on there if you want to reach out.

Rumor has it, Mozak Machine (?) will be producing something. similar. Maybe you could source one that way…otherwise post up in the WTB sub-forum and you might get lucky

They will pop up every once in a while as either a kit or a complete marker. You'd most likely need to act quickly as they don't seem to be available for long.

Personally I think that the best thing to do with one is have the slide milled so that you can mount the feed directly to the body. It makes it a lot more user friendly.

I just had someone mill mine down, who shall remain nameless since he does not want to do again I am hoping to give it a good running this Sunday, depending on how I feel after a party on Saturday.

Loophole it is holding up good everywhere except the barrel. If I did it again I would make sure that inside of the slide was masked and I wouldn't have the barrel done.

It’s a gun that looks cool and everyone wants but it’s not a gun people actually compliment as it’s just a much heavier much harder to cock stock class Phantom for four times the money. Its the Ferrari F50 of Phantoms; it only sells to people who would never complain about how unimpressive it is and people who spent $1000 on a pump handle aren’t going to bad mouth it since they might lose money on their investment.

They do sell here occasionally, every year or two, for sure not the rarest thing out there. We can’t say that until the admin completes his Rebline collection.

That orange one…fixed even…dang that’s nice. Sadly I’m too cheap to pay half its value and he’ll probably be buried with that one.

VERDICT: a better investment than gold but not a better gun that a bog standard Phantom with plastic handle.

oof. dangerous amounts of copium detected

              >much heavier

nope. differently balanced for sure. KS/Redux/carter ducks almost all come with a removable front end "counterweight" to give a steadier shot. the duckslide uses this to house the cocking rod connection but with a phuzzard mod, you can run the kit without it. if a duckslide phantom is too heavy for you, youve got other problems

              >much harder to cock

nope, smoothest action ive ever felt on the 100+ phantoms ive handled

i agree its overpriced for just being a "dress up kit"
pump handle. but i bought mine with match anno
gargoyle lowers and recently found a matching
drop changer valve. at that point, its different enough from your average phantom to justify a higher price imo. i was able to get mine for $800, and keep in mind a new EV phantom build is easily $600. but like Lachance says, totally different playing style. i love a light setup, one handed shooting, and getting close up and personal. milled my slide for directly attached feedtube also. the kills i get with my duckslide are the most satisfying ive ever had playing any style of
paintball. Totally worth it for me and i wouldnt
discourage anyone from seeking one out. if you dont like it, they hold 100% of their resale value

I think that most people get rid of them soon after buying or don't like them because it is a different style of play. The majority or people are used to having a stock or shouldering a tank. Pistol play is completely different style of play than that. I don't think the weight is a factor in liking it or not liking it. The other factor that causes people to sell them is the feed. For me the gun was 100% unplayable with the feed mounted to the slide. If I wasn't paying attention to how I pumped and held the gun I'd pinch a ball. I pump guns way to rough and violently for it to not be a blender. The first time I used mine paint was literally dripping out of it after a few minutes.

As far as the pump stroke goes it isn't any harder than any other Phantom I've used.

id say if one pops up under $1k, go for it.
any more than that and you should just save for a redux or carter duck.

Is it at all common to see just a Duckslide kit pop up? Or just full markers?

More common to see whole markers. most the kits have been snatched up, built and match annoed by now. wouldnt make much sense to part them out

              #12
I think I snagged the most recent Duckslide about a year ago. I nabbed it for $650 - within about 5 minutes if it being posted…from a new member with ZERO feedback and 1 post (took a big chance that paid off! Turned out to be a GREAT guy to deal with).
It was totally unmolested, and barely had a scratch on it.

I actually had sold it to a friend, then regretted it and traded back for it.

I put an RTR 86 frame on (not a slider, just the grip) it and detent modded the body. There is definitely a trick to cocking it, I ended up sending it to Kit to have it milled so the feed mount to the breech, which made it much easier to cock.

I’m getting a Doc’s ICD adapter for it (I have a spare lever changer) and a stock (just in case) and then she’s going out for anno.

I actually like the feel of the pump stroke on them better than a standard phantom or a UC kit. I feel like it pumps smoother/easier due to the extra heft of the slide, but that could just be my imagination.

If you want one, and one pops up, you’ll need to act fast!

after seeing a lot of the recent FB posts, ill stop recommending Carter ducks as a possible alternative. apparently, hes got some health issues and no current plans to crank any more guns out any time soon. very unfortunate. a build similar to this pic was always on my bucket list

I have a Duckslide body for my Phantom, and it is staying, sorry not parting with it or the Phantom. If you are looking for FAST and light, with a pump-arm that just happens when you think about it, this is not the thing for you. It is extremely well build and very solid. It feel like you racking the slide of something real, or pumping an actual shotgun. It took me a bit to get the fine adjustment down for the pump arm, but once I got it, I got it. Mine is something that would make purist cringe. I have my Duckslide body, but I am still using my CCI Phantom T-stock, a LAPCO 12" Bigshot, and a 2oz CO2 Brass Eagle bottle on a vertical ASA in front of the trigger guard.

I had the privilege of meeting Mongo and swapping paint with the man at the old Conquest field in Southern California years ago. It is sad to hear that he is in poor health. Mongo is a laugh riot on the field, he would use a duck call on the field, especially when he tagged someone.
