So there is a frog, known as Budgett's frog, or Lepidobatrachus Laevis. Native to South America, primarily in Paraguay and Bolivia. They are objectively funny due to their short stumpy legs, big mouth, and tendency to scream...
Now every few years the fact that this little green Pacman looking thing is quite hilarious makes its way around the internet. During one of these cycles in December of 2014 a Tumbler user going by the name kidpix2 (yeah, bad username choice there buddy), posted the following image...
Now this is harmlessly amusing, since the frog is, of course, inherently funny. As a meme it had some traction.
But then on Vine, the now defunct video sharing social media platform where you were limited to 6 seconds, so TicTok for those who have NOT taken their ADHD meds, user JimmyHere posted a video, either the first one in the original post of this thread or one similar to it. He reads the words on the image, then does an impersonation of the scream of a Budgett's frog. He then does a series of these, dressed in different costumes. It makes it on the trending page of Vine and it gets popular. This leads to others doing remixes of it, and create their own variations. Run it through the meme cycle a few times and you get, well, what we have now.Comment
