007 can be female but not "James Bond".

The entire point of Bond is that he is a sexist dinosaur from another age and blunt instrument. He has been shaped by his backstory.

Let a woman play 007 as it's only James Bond who currently occupies the designation.

However, the entire reason they are doing it is to be "woke" and follow the SJW trend so it's hypocritical and $$$ is the reason behind it. I wonder which trans black lesbian they will get for the role.

I’m kind of over the bond franchise.

I think it would be funny if there was a “bond boy” though in the same way as there were Bond girls. Like pussy galore. Give him a funny name too.

Something that would fit the theme women have traditionally played in Bond movies...
          Walken Richards?

What bothers me is shoehorning a someone into a role to try and be PC, or diverse, or appeal to a certain demographic just because. The Wonder Woman / Ghostbusters analogy pretty much sums it up. Make a good movie and people will enjoy it regardless of who is the lead. Make a crap movie and well...
Nailed it. Seems like they are prioritizing the 'message' over the art. We shall see, but I'll keep my expectations low.

There's nothing inherently masculine about the 007 role, and I've no idea about this actress. Fingers crossed that Hollywierd doesn't bungle this one.

I agree: Idris Alba would be an interesting choice. 'Luther' was very enjoyable.

                            Go woke go broke

Ian Fleming's character was always intended to be a chauvinistic womanizer who was rough around the edges. This move is another PC ploy to try and check a box in the name of progress.

Well, female bond could also display signs of misandry and abuse pretty men on screen. They might even put this in the 'progress' category.

That would still play on the mysoginy that progress is trying to reduce. Having the woman bond lead perform the historical male but in a woman format would only drive the male part and persona more, and it wouldn't be taken seriously. The woman Bond needs to be a new lead that plays a action spy but less "Man role".

I don’t care who they cast for what part. I do find it irritating that producers feel the need act like they are pushing boundaries at the same time covering up all the dirtbag things they do behind closed doors.

What I think really don’t matter I’m not the target audience anyway. I have never been a movie theater guy. I have no problem waiting until it comes out and watching it for free in the comfort of my own home. If it’s good I will watch it. If not I will turn it off. Especially if it is even remotely political. I like the classic 007 movies better then anything made today could ever produce. I can see them losing people over there choice but maybe they see it as an opportunity to pick it up on the other end. I think some things should just be left alone.
