There are a couple of rifles that seem to be really good OOTB, but they're all in the $300+ range. It's amazing how many reviews I've seen that are 5 star reviews, that say something to the effect of "works great, have this one seemingly big deal issue but other than that I love it." Obviously crap brands will always exist, but even the big names seem to have these issues. They really need to get that sorted out, along with getting HPA stuff down in price. A $500 HPA speedsoft gun with a decent ASA/grip (read my previous post) would crush the market.
Tried to go play last night but no one else showed up. Worked out though, I was able to work out some kinks. The hop up on my gun needed some serious adjustment, and my two extra mags I bought were missing some seals. Got that figured out, ran something like 500 rounds thru the gun. It's not super efficient, but otherwise it seems to work well. I'm not especially accurate with it yet, I need to learn to control the recoil. I was able to briefly hold a real upgraded hi capa, and frankly I did not notice any difference in quality. Very similar amount of play in the slide, and honestly the trigger in mine was nicer. Didn't shoot it though. Anyway, I'll play again on Tuesday, which is a discount day and usually more busy.
