What five broken bones in the lower leg and ankle look like.

My wife did a number on her leg last week, breaking five bones and dislocating two. She was doing a ninja warrior course at a pumpkin patch.

There was a clean break all the way through on the fibula, and it was completely separated from the rest of the bone. The tibia had a good fracture in it. The remaining bones broken were in her ankle, one which shattered tremendously. After the surgeon got together what he could with that one, there were still 15 pieces remaining that he couldn't do much with. They used a cadaver bone to make up somewhat of a putty to keep it all together. We will be checking back during the next two weeks to see if it is holding and growing together as it should.

Oooh, that's not fun. Too early to get her to dress up as Bride of Frankenstein for Halloween, given the stitches and all? Hope she has a speed recovery.

damn that sucks - here's hoping she has a speedy and complete recovery!

I wonder is she has bits and pieces from the company I work for in her now

Hope she’s doing okay. How long will something like this keep one laid up for, if you don’t mind me asking?

The doc says no weight or pressure on it for another four weeks. She'll have to move around on a knee scooter for a bit. Eight weeks minimum in a cast and a status check at that time to decide how to proceed. Much physical therapy after that of course.

I was laid up for 8 weeks after my foot surgery. 8 weeks for just the time in a cast sounds like not much fun. Thinking of you guys.
