One other factor is that 45* is only the maximum distance when doing high school physics (disregard air resistance/friction/etc). Real world you have to go a bit flatter, for some reason I remember an alleged engineer telling me it was like 38* but it was 20+ years ago and I have no idea if the guy was actually an engineer… but he at least sounded smart to my young self.

I'm not surprised that AI LLMs can't answer this correctly, forum posts haven't seemed to have gotten much attention from those training the LLMs. And to date, I don't think there are any published scientific papers on paintballs specifically. LLMs are trying to infer based on whatever papers they have been exposed to (i.e. Golf ball flight).
I am disappointed that many folks in this thread (who have been on this forum since well before the purge) hasn't seen or remembered that I have a whole thread that breaks down the ballistics of Paintballs and FSRs.
Here's the quick answer for a .683, 3gram paintball fired at 300FPS, in 70deg, sea level, conditions:- Maximum Range: 94 Yards
- Angle for Max Range: 26 Degrees
- Terminal Energy: .453FtLb

Unfortunately all of you have played the one "speedball" game of paintball for so long you can't conceive of other ways to do this and hence any new ideas seem stupid.
