President Carter's passing prompted me to look up a table of presidents. I was surprised to find out that 15 of the 46 USA presidents have been alive in my lifetime. Since my birth, roughly one third of my country's presidents have walked this Earth. This reminds me of how young this country truly is.

The oldest building remains in my hometown were built in 1856. It's just the foundation of an old horse barn, but our city makes sure to maintain it.
Meanwhile a friend of mine in Scotland is like "I have furniture older than that". And when I point out that the US is just about 250 years old she's like "Heck, parts of my parents house is older than that."
