So I started playing a little about 2 years ago. Started to get interested in getting better recently and started practicing a bit. My local pub plays a variety of games and of course cricket is popular. I do pretty well with local competition but now that I'm branching out, I'm finding that my entire base of competitive play has almost completely neglected doubles work.
We rarely play 501 as there is always more than 2 players per game. All of my practice has been rooted in trebles and scoring. Now it feels like I'm starting over trying to get consistent hitting doubles. I've been questioning my grip as hitting singular doubles requires much less consistent rhythm than scoring. Ie moving to more of a front grip and actually gripping part of the point rather than gripping the dart closer to its balance point. This has opened up my groups a bit but I'm hitting more doubles and missing more widely when I do miss. I guess only the hits count and I should practice more but I'm curious if this has ever occurred with anyone else.
