    Kidney stones... oooof

This evening I came down with teeth gnashing, excruciating pain in my abdomen and back. At first, I thought I had food poisoning because it started out with projectile vomiting. Total mess.

Just got back from the ER about 3:30am Pacific. Got the pain under control now, I'm still miserable but I'm not levitating in agony anymore. I still have a 3mm stone working its way through my body. When I left the hospital they said I still have 2/3 to go.

Anyone else deal with peepee demons?

I had them while traveling several years ago. Thought I was going to die alone in a hotel room. I ended up taking a ride in an ambulance to the local ER. I could barely walk let alone drive. I hope they gave you a decent pain killer. The one thing i remember was the constant pain that could not be relieved no matter what position I put myself in. Good luck to you.

Oh yeah, I'm loaded on meds right now. All good there my dude.

Can't imagine traveling somewhere different and having something like this occur. I live with my GF and she was all over the situation.

i have had both kidney stones and bladder stones
not fun bro............................................... .....................it sounds stupid but drinking massive amounts of water helps speed the journey
then ask your medical pro about taking sodium bicarb pills, it helps to dissolve stones way back up in the kidneys

Oh snap, I've only seen gull bladder stones in action. My former partner was pregnant with our first, had to have surgery even -- no bueno, no fun.

I deal with these off and on. I suppose I have a large ureter or something, but mine are usually a discomfort from the kidneys, inside my thigh, and ball sack as it works down along with some bloody piss. You can distinctly hear them hit the toilet when they pass.
IDK if you are the beer drinking and have to pee a lot type, but something along that line or loads or water, etc. helps a lot. Walk and stay upright as much as possible, it helps too.

I drink only at a party or special occasion. Went out with my brother tonight and his wife, they drank I drove. Got home and was only here about 30-45 before I started descending into a hell-like abyss of pain and suffering.

your description on it is exactly what I experienced. My back wasn't sore, it just had some small pain if it was hit, or I jumped and landed on my heels. Staying hydrated is super important. What sucks is that you feel like you have to pee every 30 seconds. Well that and crying in a fetal position from the pain.

I sincerely feel your pain. I've had them 3 times. the first two times it went undiagnosed. The third time(and thousands of dollars in emergency room bills) they told me it was a kidney stone. I immediately quit drinking anything other than water other than occasionally. I'll do anything to never experience that kind of pain again.

Oh man the worse pain. I had mine show up at work and that day I rode the Harley to work. The day rolled on and I kept peeing constantly and I was thinking some infection or something. Then I started the 45 minute ride home and had to stop and take a leak constantly with my back starting to ache . When I got home that little bastard then really kicked in and I then got a ride to the Hospital and went through the peeing and then the ole doctor saying here are your pain meds and a filter and just pee it out. The longest night ever until that little thing came out.

Haha, to them it was so routine, like I was ordering burgers and fries. Have fun pissing out that spherical throwing star.

Yep. 3.5mm. Had the fun hot poker in the back pain wake me at 3am. I've damn near cut my thumb off, that was a 2 on my pain scale. Kidney stone was a solid 8. Good luck.

I've found that quick lacerations, even deep ones, aren't all that painful. Not half as much as getting them stitched, or stepping on a Lego

It’s amazing to think something so smalll is capable of destruction. 3.5mm is getting close to extended hospital stay.

been luck first time i had them had to see in out place twice to get rid of one i had first time. they went in and broke it up told me take week off. then had to go back since when they broke it up caused me to bleed. so have to go in and remove it and do balder surgery to stops bleeding since was making cuts in wall of it. all other times had small piece and told to drink a lot fluids to pass them. i get off and on. and i know where pain at when i have them. but when hurt my back last time found one i knew i had but doctor did not think it. i know when i have them when lower back in pain. then goes away few month later. what made it worst i had back out when i had first one and passed it. then right before went to see back doctor caught another one and passed it. only had one major one. i know someone that had to go under knife 3 times. and know another person that get all time and pass them or has to see doctor for it. i know when i have when i pee blood. that when i know around. and back get swore. i wait awhile then poof they are gone

My kidney stone was the second worse pain I have encountered.

First place was surgery that opened me from sternum to pelvis.

      Pass on both.

BTW Jeff Foxworthy does a stand up bit on kidney stones.

It will leave you in tears...like your kidney stone.

My mother in law almost died from kidney stone complications last year. They can take weird shapes and...get stuck...causing infections...etc.

Had a nasty one a few years back. I think like 5mm maybe. It got stuck and they had to go in and fetch the thing... manually. The existential terror that is a ureteroscopy. Entering through an exit only door. Ugh.

I was knocked out for the initial retrieval, but then they have to put a stent in. Basically a foot or so of what looks like cocker LP hose going from your kidney to your bladder, to make sure scar tissue doesn't block anything up. A few weeks of knowing EXACTLY where your kidney is, since it keeps getting poked by the stent when you, well, do just about anything. When they fished that tube out I was fully awake.
