I've moved twice in the last two years - one cross country (UT > NC) then a little closer (NC > TN).

I used an Estes Suremove shipping container both times. I highly recommend them for the following reasons.

    (1) the price includes up to 3 business days to load and unload.

    > This was really nice as I didn't have to rush to load and I could take my time to really maximize my space.
    > They don't do drop off / pick up on weekends, so if you have them drop on Wednesday you have 5 days to load and unload.

    (2) transit time is about 1 week

    > I found this to be perfect in both moves: I took my time driving across the country and could stop to see things on the way.
    > They can store your belongings longer for you at extra charge if you want

    (3) You don't have to drive a big truck

    > driving a moving truck long distances sucks. Less stress.
    > no worry about liability or possibility of getting in an accident or something

    (4) You get more space than even the largest moving truck. I think it was like 28 ft long and 8 ft high.

    (5) you pay by the linear feet used. It's not much more expensive, if at all, than a big moving truck for a long distance move.

    > You can somewhat control costs by packing efficiently and you don't have to pay for space you don't use
    > It wasn't much more expensive overall than if I had driven a truck - whatever the additional expense was it was worth my time.

    (6) If memory serves you either make partial payment up front, or no payment and pay in full after the move. This is nice if you are also waiting on funds from selling your house.

I moved last year before everything went haywire with COVID and my advice would be to SHOP AROUND! I contacted about six different companies and their prices were all over the place. There was a several hundred dollar difference in pricing between several of them and that's significant enough to me that I sought out a few more until I found a cheap one that I could trust to not manhandle my belongings. For what it's worth, I settled on Three Men & A Truck and they were very professional and easy to deal with. I would definitely use them again. Every moving company I talked to offered an estimate for free so it's pretty easy to do some comparison shopping.

Funny this gets bumped now after a month of inactivity. Currently on our way to Greenville SC to look a house over before putting in our offer

So this was the worst move ever, I punched my info into the site, and have been spam bombed since, starting 0830 27 phone calls, 8 text messages, and 7 emails,
That site is selling my shit like crazy. I rarely put my number out there and now I know why.

My experience was totally different from yours. I hired a very professional agency that took care of all details for me. However, I moved within the Texas state, but still I was impressed with how good they handled things. So, I used this texas moving company that literally packed me up, put me in a big truck and drove me to my next house within one day. I usually hate moving, packing and anything related to it. I’m just not an organized person, and I find it difficult to arrange all these things. That’s why such a company was the ideal choice for me. I could not have done all this without them. Also, their prices are very reasonable.

I’ve moved twice recently and used an Estes Suremove shipping container both times. I highly recommend them for the following reasons:
              1. Flexible loading time.
              2. About one week transit time.
              3. No need to drive a big truck.
              4. More space than large moving trucks.
              5. Cost-effective, pay by the linear feet used.
              6. Flexible payment options.

FYI. Jackmason is likely not going to be here long and I moved 3 years ago!

It would be the mature thing to do. 😉

Yes yes... Everyone needs flexible loading time.

No sane person would ever write that.

I hope you made it okay. What ever would you have done without that list of flexible options?

my last move was 4.5 miles - we planned for it for 3 years and actively prepped for 18mos in advance. gave away so much stuff, and dumpstered even more. and you really can't downsize enough. took so many car loads of stuff to goodwill

and then 2 days after we moved my wife caught covid and I had to unpack the bulk of everything - a great example that despite a lot of planning and prep things can still go sideways

                  good luck!
