    SS Walz (paintball Island) day 1

    Let's do this!

    As the survivors of paint island boarded the SS Walz they were happy to be alive. Many of them remarked that the boarding process felt like it “took like, four years”. Many of the survivors had large headaches from the administration of the antidotes to the paralyzing paintballs on the island. The crew of the SS Walz also had their own afflictions. The SS Walz was a cruise ship on its maiden shake down cruise. As such it had limited passengers aboard and was carrying a shipment of paintball supplies to world cup. The crew was tasked with inspecting and trying all of the equipment aboard. Last night they needed everyone on the ship to inspect the new karaoke amphitheater which was supposed to pour drinks only when you were singing the song correctly. This was done to discourage drunken behavior on the ship. The crew found out however that one of the software nerds had programed it backwards and the system would pour out drinks when a song was sung incorrectly. While they did know many of the songs by heart, they somehow forgot much of the lyrics on that particular night and the software team was not notified of the mistake….ever. The last item to come aboard was the bodybag containing MrKittyCatMeowFace. His time on paintball island was troubled and while he had overcome monumental challenges in surviving the event that was known as “Lord of the paint” years later, he was taken out by a simple mistake in identifying an edible fish. He had tried to make a meal of fish and chips with a poisonous puffer fish after everyone else on the island was paralyzed. If he had only waited until the next morning he could have had any food his heart desired aboard the SS Walz. 


    In the bowels of the ship Dr. No was the surgeon on board. He had gotten his medical license from a very prestigious and highly regarded by random reviews which in no way were Russian bots…online university. Many of the things in the medicine store on board were little more than hieroglyphics to Dr. No, even still, there was a body to be embalmed. Little of this, lot of that and a dash of hope went into the giant syringe. Straight into MrKittyCatMeowFace’s heart….oh no wait thats his ass. Whatever it will do. Zip that body bag back up and it's time for lunch. 


    Captain Nemo decided since they were taking on a lot of passengers it would only be appropriate to do a welcome and orientation announcement. “Hey is this thing on?...Welcome to the ship everyone! Thank you for joining us as I know there are many options for a cruise ship that departs random abandoned islands. The SS Walz is a splendid ship equipped with only the best entertainment and safety systems. For instance we have the state of the art lifepod system on board which will carry away each individual passenger in their own sealed and self contained miniature submarine in the case of an emergency. The crewmembers will show you your evacuation point later. We also have large karaoke amphitheater which for safety reasons will have the alcohol system turned off temporarily. Since this is our shakedown cruise we had plans to open up the deck 12 paintball field as we do have a shipment of markers bound for world cup on board however the knuckleheads at corporate did not send ultra evil paint like was requested but instead only the “out cold” paralyzing rounds I believe you are all familiar with.  Our go kart track spans the whole 8th deck and is 2 miles long…beep…..our umm….beep….filtration system can be switched to….beep….scotty what is that infernal noise?” everyone on board starts to look around. This strange captain and his ship have left the microphone live for all to hear the workings of the bridge. “Scotty: captain, I am unsure…beep…I have multiple reports of systems behaving…beep beep beep…..CAPTAIN! I need your override immediately! Its the lifepod system its…..” Everyone on the ship hears and feels a series of thumps. For almost 30 seconds it  continues until at last there is silence. “...captian, the lifepods, they have all been launched, well, all but number 68, it seems to have a malfunction with its auto launch system. The launch command came from the engineering deck sir. The override timer was set too short and we did not have time to stop them.” Captain Nemo: “ Great, just great…well, at least there is no other emergency going on. We will just …beep…have to call corporate and …beep…tell them that this ship is cursed…beep…Im sure, what is this new alarm Scotty?” Scotty: “Sir I still have multiple odd alarms that do not appear to be tied together. The one…beep…you are hearing is simply the evacuation unlock system which…beep…unlocks all doors on the ship to help everyone evacuate.” Captain Nemo:”well that would explain why we have…beep…a few apparent passengers hanging out just outside of the bridge…beep…scotty can you tell them that they need to return to the lower sections of the ship? Maybe the train of thought can take them around for a spin or..beep…they can enjoy a nice ice cream sundae?” Scotty: Sorry captain it's only Friday, the ice cream bar isn't open, but yes I can suggest some activities for them…beep…to do. *clang, screech* “Good afternoon OH GOD WHAT IS GOING ON?” Captain Nemo: “ SCOTTY WHAT IS IT?” Scotty: “ Help! They have my leg! Like it's already off and they are carrying it away!” Captain Nemo: Scotty! I didn't ask for a bloody play by play account! Tell these passengers to go below or I will have your other leg! Scotty:”It's too late sir! They already took the other one as well! They are no longer passengers, they…*gag*...are…*gag*... Captain Nemo: “are what Scotty!?” Scotty: “ZOMBIES!” 


    Soon there is more static, beeps and screams over the intercom system until it finally and mercifully goes silent. Everyone on board has the same icicle through the chest feeling. With no life pods on board and no security personnel for a shake down cruise there is really only one option…fight to survive. But wait, there is one other option! Escape. There is one life pod remaining even if only a few of the crew know where it's evacuation point is! Even still, everyone heads below decks to the cargo hold. Paralyzing paintballs may not be much but it's better than nothing. Everyone will be looking to fight off both the zombies and each other in order to reach the one remaining life pod.

    Ok. Quick note on how to read my notes. Here's an example of one at the end of each story


    23. Trbo323 (TB) 98cBR(4) DP roll9,9,2 -300 +100 (500)


    First, after my name, TB, this is how I'm abbreviating the name in the story. Just so I don't have to write your name 42 times. 


    98c is the marker I choose

    BR (4) this is the break roll. Except for the etha everything has a chance to break. Rolling a D10, a 10 is a broken marker. For the ion it's a 9 or 10. So in this case it rolled a 4 so it's safe. 


    DP is defend position, the action i chose. 

    Roll 9,9,2. If you look at the 98c chart under defend position a 9 is a stalemate and requires a reroll . So in this case rolls of 9,9,4 are reroll, reroll and +100. DP costs 100 paint, each reroll costs 100 paint so I'm -300 in paint but the last roll of 4 is +100 so, I started with 700, lost 300 and gained 100. 


    The last number in parentheses is how much paint I have left.

    3. MrKittyCatMeowFace awakes to find…darkness. He feels strange, not himself yet awake. In-between awake, asleep, alive and dead. Time skips, unsure or where he is, there's blood, flashes, a control panel of some sort, flashing lights. He is not completely aware of what he is doing or…. Who's leg this is that he is holding. All he knows is that he wants to find…something, an answer, a medicine, something. Perhaps one of these people has it…. Inside their body.


    1.Martix_agent (MA) 

    4. NONOBLITUS (NB) 


    MA & NB are both out looking for trouble. The best way to get to that escape pod is to eliminate everyone else on the good ship SS Walz. They have both been through the cargo hold and selected what they think will help them the most. Now it's up to the cabin deck. The SS Walz does not have traditional room numbers. Each room instead has a name. The laxative hold? No, the orgy oven? Maybe later, there it is…the mayo Mansion. MA is in first to see what he can find, NB is less than 5 minutes behind. As soon as the door closes the paint starts flying. Back and forth they go neither having an edge. MA grabs a nearby jar of mayo and tosses it into the corner. NB breaks from his cover to shoot at the har of mayo. MA peeks around the drum of mayo he is using for cover and says “too easy" stitching NB up his side. NB falls to the ground half covered in mayo. MA finds one pod, not covered in mayo that he snatches up and heads on his way.

    2. Cdn_Cuda . (CC)Well this looks wild! CC thinks as he pushes the on button on docs paintifyer 9000. “Printing paintballs" the marker says as it begins to hum, bang and thump. CC doesn't have more time to think before he hears the snarls of a nearby zombie. Crap crap crap! He dodges arms trying to grab him ducks around a crate of ornamental pine cones and fires paint back towards the zombie. Headshot. Phew. Let's get down to business. CC heads up to the spelunking deck to see what's there. Zombies that's what. Dodging arms legs and teeth he makes his way through the caves. Finally, light ahead, one last zombie, one last shot straight to the chest. As he leaves the cave he notices the zombie has a pod in his hand. Grabbing it CC continues on.

    JD finds the coolest phantom he has ever seen. Figures he would find it in the cargo hold of a ship and couldn't even build one half as cool at home. Let's go see if we can find this escape pod. JD sneaks around, finds his way up to the library deck. Perfect, he thinks in a quiet voice inside his head. Peeking around the corner in the section dedicated to ancient Roman taxes he sees a crew member. Clearly looking for trouble, sneaking around with a…..psychobalistics lightning cocker? “I need to put this guy out of his misery" JD thinks. Lines up a shot, lets one fly, straight and true it lands on the back of his head. JD grabs 2 pods on his way past and into the underwater basket weaving section. 


    5. JeepDVLZ45 phantom, BR (1)AFF roll 3 -0 +200 (900)


    6. XEMON (XM) XEMON


    XM thinks, “if it ain't broke don't fix it" as he picks up a 98c. “Best to wait out the worst of this storm though" heads up to the cabins and finds…" the bunker bar?” Sounds good to me. Heads in, finds a place to hold up and settles in. It's not long before he hears them, zombies. They flood in, XM starts picking them off one by one. Finally, the flow slows. One last zombie, XE takes pity on it and some for a quick head shot…. But misses and it goes straight in the zombies mouth. For a moment XE is tempted to also find out what the out could paint tastes like but then remembers that the consequences would be less than optimistic. Maybe later. He snags a pod off of the last zombie and decides on his next move


    6. XEMON 98c,BR (2) DP1 -100 roll 3 +100 (700)


    7. Jonnydread (JD) Jonnydread


    Awesome!  Thinks JD as he picks up a T15. Now how do I get this thing to..POP. the marker fires as he figures out the safety. “Uurrrhggg" he hears. Seems that inadvertent shot got a nearby zombie right in the forehead before JD even realized it was there. He goes over to investigate, “no way!" The zombie even has a pod of FS paint. JD picks it up and heads off to do something, that maybe he is a little more aware of. 


    7. Jonnydread T15 BR(9), AFF roll 2 -0 +100 (800)



    8. The Hobbit  (TH) The Hobbit


    “I've always wanted one of these but could never afford one!" TH exclaims as he grabs an ion from a box. Dream marker in hand he sets off. There's a pop and a hiss! “No!" TH says as he looks down at his marker expecting the worst. He wiggles the macro hose and the his stops. “That was close" he thinks. Running down a hall he glances in rooms. “What the?" He stops, in the snake oil room is none other than Indiana Jones. Filled with rage over the terrible last movie in the franchise series TH starts slinging paint. Jones returns fire out of a revolver. Back and forth they duel until TH lands his mark, catches Jones’ on the hip. Down here falls into a pit of snakes but not without dropping 2 pods of paint just on the edge. TH snags them and heads off for his next adventure.


    8. The Hobbit ion,BR (8) AFF roll 1 -100 +200 (800)



    9. Super Nova (SN) Super Nova


    “Man, all the choices” SN finds himself in an odd shipping container. After plugging in 12345 as a complete guess the door sprung open. Gold plated cockers, a nasty typhoon, custom rudy dean cocker, a prototype double barrel warp feed signed RT mag and in the corner, an illuminated display case labeled “Camille” but SN’s eyes fall on his real prize seemingly discarded in the corner. An old, rental worn, never cleaned tippmann 98c. “Perfect” he thinks picking it up. Off to adventure! Browsing the cabins he opens door after door until he finds what he is looking for. Easy prey. In the cabin he finds Barny the dinosaur. SN lines up his shot, breaths deep and, dives left. Barny is throwing paint his way. Up, take aim, doge left. Throw a few rounds from cover, doge, run, dive. Barny is making SN work for this. SN pops up and throws a stream of pure “not friendship” towards Barny, The paint all finds its mark. The color draining out of his eyes Barny’s last words as he succumbs to the  paralyzing paint is “I don't love you”. SN snags a pod off of Barny and makes his way out.


    9. Super Nova 98c, BR(7) AFF roll4 -100 +100 (700)


    10. Jimmydee (JD) Jimmydee


    Seemingly finding himself in a dumpster of sorts, JD finds broken bits here and there. He hasn't eaten for a while day but this dumpster only has paintball parts in it. OH! A cocker…body. With nothing else to make it functional. Parts here and there but with enough luck he manages to collect enough parts to put together a functional 98c. Clock is ticking, time to go. JD scales the decks, finding the cafeteria he spies what he is really looking for. A pristine roast beef hogie with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Just sitting there, under a heat lamp, still hot. As he makes his way over to it his mouth starts watering as he smells it. PAK! In the blink of an eye, the perfect, delicious sandwich is gone. Splattered all over a wall by the cook. “You'll need to wait in line like everyone else!" He growls at JD. AHHHGGGH! JD let's out a primal yell as he starts slinging paint at the cook. Dodging behind the salad bar, lettuce and sauces dance into the air. Returning fire the smell of burnt paintballs fills the room from the grill behind the cook. JD fires one last volley and catches the cook in the top of his head behind the prep counter. Before leaving JD finds a few pods hidden in the dessert bar. Nothing left in here that's edible, he will need to find food elsewhere.


    10. Jimmydee 98c, BR(5) DP1 roll1 -100 +200 (800)



    11. Myrkul (MK) Myrkul


     MK finds himself in a booth setup that was headed for world cup. Seems someone was setting up a rental field. Well now they will have to do with one less 98c as he heads out. Figuring he should let the worst of the firefights pass before getting into the mess he finds a room to hang out in for a bit. The “marshmallow maroon" is a pretty sweet room. MK tucks himself in a corner and starts reciting Spanish tax law to pass the time. Soon though, he hears the door open and a “Aaarrggg” follows a single zombie in. MK starts loving shots but none of them land too many marshmallows in the way, MK makes his way around the cabin, lines up a shot and pulls the trigger, PAK, but as fast as lightning the zombie whips his right arm up, taking the shot in his forearm instead. “Matters not MK thinks, the paralyzing agents in the out could paintballs will still….” MK’s thoughts are stopped dead, the zombie has reached up with his left hand and ripped his whole right arm off clean at the shoulder. The paralyzing agents won't work if they are not attached to the body! MK throws a new pod in his hopper and dives behind bag of super puff marshmallows. The zombie starts to follow, MK throws more paint and sprints to the other corner. Lines up another shot and PAK! Once again though! The zombie whips it's left arm up, catches the paintball on the forearm then places it's hand on the ground, steps on it and stands, ripping the arm out of the socket. Now an armless torso the zombie attacks. MK has to dump another pod in his hopper and turns to run. Jumps and spins in the air firing blind behind him in mid air. As he lands he looks up to see the zombie has a perfect impact right in it's forehead. " Go ahead and rip that off” MK says as the zombie falls backwards to the ground. " Probably best to leave this room” MK thinks, as he walks out the door he finds a pod wedged in-between two over sized marshmallows.

    After finding his favorite phantom in a tool chest, RS figures, might as well try another. Opens another tool box, “sweet! A pod"  snagging it he continues. Finds a large worksite toolbox, reaching for it it begins to shake and growl. " You know, on second thought, maybe not” RS moves on.

     MP selects a trusty T15 and makes his way up to the top deck. Best to get some range using the T15. He opens a door and makes his way out onto a catwalk. Looking through his scope he sees some movement here and there but has no clear shot of anything. Suddenly he hears the door behind him creek open. MP spins and instinctively pulls the trigger. A zombie falls through the doorway with paint on his chest. “Well that was lucky" MP inspects the zombie and wouldn't you know it? There's even a pod of first stroke rounds in its pocket. “Score!" MP resumes his overwatch

    14. MrBarraclough (MB)@MrBarraclough


    MB is about to leave his cabin and scamper down to the cargo hold when he notices a phantom grip frame sticking out from under the pillow. “Well that was convenient" he thinks. Picking up the phantom he pokes his head out the door. Only two doors down there's someone looking out of another door, facing away from MB. MB lines up the shot and, PAK. Hits the crew member in the back of the leg. As she falls to the ground she sees MB, the paralytics taking a little time to get from her leg to her head she says “sir! You must evacuate, the last life pod is locate…. Located…..” but it's too late. This good samaritan was trying to help MB but he never gave her the chance to. Still, she has a pod sticking out from a pocket. MB picks it up and says “Well I guess that's the end of my good luck I guess." MB wanders off to see what he can find next. 


    14. MrBarraclough phantom, BR(1) AFF roll 1 -0 +100 (800)


    15. cellophane (CP)@cellophane


    CP lugs the ma-deuce-a up, glad he has been doing all those curls in the weight room. His arms as large as tree trunks handle the weight easily. Now if only he had kept up on leg day…. Or just attended leg day…. Ever. It's a good thing his dating profile only shows his upper body because the inverted pyramid that he is doesn't always look good in person. Still, CP knows that the double barrels of the ma-deuce-a are going to use a lot of paint. Might as well start searching for it right about…here. CP punches straight into a bulkhead. His massive fist passing through it like it were tissue paper, pulling his hand out he has a pod in it. “Awesome!" The only downside is now his quivering legs need to carry a little more weight. Off to the next adventure.

    16. Impactfour  (IF)& Impactfour

    17. EvilCreature (EC) EvilCreature


    IF is looking for an easy target. Sneaking through a ship full of zombies isn't easy without attracting attention but so far he has managed it. Coming into the karaoke amphitheater he spies EC on the other side. EC has his trusty 98c in hand and is searching for paint. IF carefully lines up his shot, PAK…. Miss wide right! EC now knows he is there though, dives behind cover and starts throwing paint back. Back and forth they duel, a phantom and a 98c a tale as old as time. IF makes a move, grabs the microphone, EC dives into a table for cover shoots a stream that is too high. IF holds the microphone up to his barrel and fires, “PAK" booms through the speakers, it makes EC jump with surprise and that's when he realizes his mistake. IF lands a single paintball straight to his chest. He falls to the ground going limp but is only comforted by the makers mark whisky that is now coming out of the dispenser on the table and spilling over into his mouth. IF comes over and plucks a single pod off of EC then moves on.

    17. EvilCreature 98c BR(9) search roll 9 DFF roll 9 out. Fare thee well fine sailor, you have gone out on patrol



    18. BrickHaus (BH) BrickHaus


     BH picks up an old ion. Well before can't be choosers. It seems functional so he grabs a nearby pod pack and makes to leave the cargo hold. As he opens the door he runs smack into 3 zombies. “NOOOO!!!" He screams falling backwards. As he hits the ground the ion fires, and fires, and fires. Seems it's on some sort of cheater full auto mode and has a lot of trigger bounce. BH looks up, all 3 zombies are plastered in paint. They all collapse. BH gives a shrug, thinks about changing the ion to a mode that won't use as much paint then decides that if it saved his life once, maybe it will again and leaves it. He has to dump a new pod in but he is still alive. He moves on. 


    18. BrickHaus ion, BR(7) AFF roll 7 -100 +0 (600)


    19. SETHZILLA! (SZ) SETHZILLA!


    SZ grabs his etha, glad it's as reliable as the sunrise and heads out. It doesn't take long for him to find someone. Looks like it might be an engineer for the ship…except he is massive…and a zombie. Even still, he is in the way. SZ lines up a shot and PAK…but no! The zombie has grabbed a nearby control panel, flung it in front of himself blocking SZs paint. SZ fires more and more but the console is still in the way. Finally he sees it, a hole for wires to go through the back. He unloads on it and sure enough one small 50cal round finds it's home. The zombie falls over backwards with a thunderous crash. SZ searches the zombie, “aww crap” he thinks. This guy was packing a full 2000 round case but it's all 68 caliber. Won't work for him. He moves on.


    19. SETHZILLA! Etha .50 AFF roll 5 -100 +0 (1700)

    21. chplnstone (CS) chplnstone


    DJ feels the grips of his etha, he has always liked the way it feels. Finding his way towards the front of the ship he finds a replica of Stonehenge in the morning sun. Odd he thinks but not quite as odd as what he sees on the other side. CS is already there, checking for anyone lurking in the far side. Suddenly CS spins and sees DJ. They both start firing immediately. Both taking cover behind the stones. DJ moves to his right, CS counters also moving to the right, they both exchange a volley. CS dumps a pod in his hopper. DJ moves right, CS moves right. Around the circle they go until CS thinks, “enough is enough" he posts up and throws a solid steam. DJ moves to his right again but instead of safely arriving at the next rock he runs head first into a steam of paint. CS comes to investigate and thinks it's odd that DJ was carrying a pod of 68 caliber paint but certainly doesn't complain as he picks it up. The mystery of Stonehenge will have to wait, he is off to find whatever comes next.

            In a nutshell it's a table top inspired chance game. Everyone is playing against the odds but it's more fun to write some story to go with. Last time I did this it went through February. I was thinking of creating a new thread for each "day" . Each day takes a week though so just matters how long it takes for everyone to get eliminated.

            By chance, think we can make this game a sub section so I don't have to clog up the rest of walzmas with the thread for each day?

              Being truly shaken up by my first stroke of luck. I quiver in my boots as I move forward. Every thought imaginable races through my head as I move down the hallway. "What did I just see? This isnt what I thought I was getting into. Is that a leak I hear? How many balls do I have left? What was that noise? Am I dead?

              I decided I'm going to slow my advance and search for supplies along my way.

                        After the harrowing and ironic battle with Indy, I choose to search for other film icons that suffered from terrible reboots. Attack once found, maybe I can find justice for Brandon Lee over The Crow remake.
