Who are you going to see?

I go to live shows pretty much every chance I get, especially since we couldn’t for a year. Who are you guys seeing?

just got home from Machine Gun Kelly at midnight on a Thursday, not going to be a very productive day tomorrow.

Really liking The Blue Stones. Have some great songs. Saw Seether live a long time ago and really liked them too. Did an acoustic Rooster cover which was awesome.

I don’t think I’ll be going to a LOT of shows anytime soon, possibly ever again. I’m going to keep the stuff to a minimum and no squirming around up front.

I wanted to see Gift of Gab first thing after the plague. I’ve seen him live more times than I can count. He died earlier this year though, which was a major bummer. RIP, El Gifto Magnifico. I’d like to see Butterfly Child but he died which was a much bigger bummer since he had grown to be a friend of the family in recent years.

I’ve had a few other shows cancelled on me. Currently my first post-plague show is set to be The Avalanches in February. I’m a huge fan of these guys and the new record is amazing so this should be great. I also have tickets to see New Order and Pet Shop Boys in, get this, October 2022. I hope they play Disappointed but I guess mostly I just hope they don’t croak.

I caught The Avalanches at coachella in 2017 and their set was probably the highlight for that day.

Avalanches are my favorite DJs ever. I still listen to that old Breezeblock set from 12-09-01 at least once a year if not ten. The new album is next level.

I’m going to Coheed next week and Citizen Cope later in the fall, but I’m only willing to go to outdoor shows for the time being so it’s limited.

I seen them a few times very early in there career. One of the drummers lived down the road from me. (Coheed)

Oh yeah they’re NY boys I always forget. I’ve been a fan for a long time, I’m a sucker for concept music. They put on a hell of a live show

I'd really like to see Ziggy Marley again. I saw him and the band at the Melody Tent on the cape a few years back and it was a magical night.

I seen him live at The Little Bear in Woodstock NY years ago it was a blast. Super small venue but what a show.

I’m a big Eric Church fan I would like to see him in concert. Lately the wife and I have been going to music in the park at random local towns. I grab a bottle of wine sit in our camp chairs people watch and listen to live Music. There’s a Tom Petty tribute band called Dam the torpedoes that are really good if you like classic Petty we go to see whenever they play local. But any live music is great! I definitely prefer outside venues even before the pandemic.

To be honest, given my age and my disability I have opted that the price to many of the concerts I would like to see are too high. I cannot stand and entire concert and it just doesn't make sense to pay hundreds of dollars out to look at other fans backs while listening. I REALLY wanted to see Blackberry Smoke but the scalpers got the good seats before actual customers could, and then ticketmaster turns around and helps them by offering those seats as "resellers" a 4x+ the actual ticket price. Nope.

My next concert is a Elton John/Billy Joel Tribute band at a local amphitheater venue called The Fred. Very small, not a bad seat in the place and very inexpensive. I have heard back that (most) of the acts that come there are quite worthwhile. Seeing them in actual concert was going to be about a grand. I have far better ways to waste that kind of money nowadays...like booze and paintball markers.

If you get the chance catch Elton on his next passing by, he headlined Outside Lands in 2015 and seeing him rip on the piano is something to see, his "last" tour was announced in 2019 and slated to end in 2022(obviously his dates have been postponed) so catch him on this go around or be like me and regret not watching Petty on his last tour

My best experiences with live music are often the cheapest shows. If you’re paying three digit prices for rock/pop shows you’re almost certainly seeing someone well past their prime. I say this fully understanding I just admitted paying for a 21st century New Order show. It’s fun once in a while but really not worth it. When the plague blows over, get thee to a crappy club for the real ish. Get the show, the CD, and drunk for $60 out the door, avoid shows that take place under fold up basketball hoops.

Got tickets to see Sparks in January, after watching Edgar Wright's doc and couldn't pass up the chance to see them just for the heck of it.

Almost bought tickets to see Madness, but they seem so far past their prime it's not worth it even when the tickets are cheap.

Not going to, but just saw The Black Crowes a couple weeks ago. Dirty Honey was the opener. Both of them killed.

If I had to choose a band to see right now it would be Black Pistol Fire. We have an awesome smaller local venue my wife and I like to go to the rare time we go to a concert. So if those guys roll through, would grab tickets right away.

My wife and I made a list of who we’ve seen this year. It seems like a ton but we cheated and went to lollapalooza

weezer, fall out boy, Green Day (same show)

post Malone, illenium, limp bizkit, cam, foo fighters, jimmy eat world, all time low, marshmello, white reaper, tai verdes, angels and airwaves, mt joy, Michigander, the front bottoms, modest mouse, Olivia O’Brien, moon taxi

next up is breakaway music festival in Charlotte, I only know the chain smokers at this one so it’s time to start listening to some of the others.
