Disturbed - Sound of Silence cover

so i was into disturbed when i was in college. i liked the melodic sound of draiman's voice. the instrumentals. the energy. but kinda moved on since then. for some reason, i JUST found his cover of "sound of silence" cover. and it is AMAZING. you can listen to the studio version

or (the one i prefer) a live version on conan

My highschool played this during the minute bell. Pretty powerful song.

This would be the original (live version of course). The Disturbed cover is great since it's basically the same song in a completely different genre of music. So you can't even really compare the two and say which one is better, it's an apples to oranges comparison.

Though my personal favorite cover is a bit... different.

The general consensus is the disturbed version is better. Even Paul Simon had nothing but praise for it. I think Bobaflex did a cover of it too but they more or less made it the same as the original

i kinda equate this cover to the one johnny cash did of nine inch nail's song "hurt". totally different sound, but i think all the more powerful. these two covers, i think, outshine the originals.

As much as I like Johnny, his cover of 'Hurt' sounded so hollow after knowing how badly Trent struggled with addiction.

I can't say who struggled more Johnny or Trent...its between them. Johnny definitely had his own troubles though.

Wurd. His covers are solid, and his version of "God's Gonna Cut You Down" is the best I've heard. Very talented and well-spoken individual.

This is one of my favorite covers. Bad Wolves cover of "Zombie" is another awesome metal cover.
