Anyone keeping up with E3 this year? What are your personal highlights thus far? I'll admit, I haven't been as attentive to it as I have been in past years, so I have some catching up to do. But...

So far Elden Ring and whatever they have planned for the Legend of Mana has my interest. I hope Elden Ring allows for a greater variation in play styles. That was my biggest issue with Dark Souls 3, as I tend to play more defensively in Souls games. A defensive/tanky style in that game doesn't work so well in my experience, at least not compared to the first Dark Souls game.

Halo Infinite's multiplayer trailer showed some interesting things. But the multiplayer will be free-to-play, so that means $60 for the campaign, Forge, etc. That campaign had better be good if they want my 60 clams. Especially with how poor Halo 5's campaign was. And with multiplayer being F2P, we're basically getting less for our money than we have with previous entries. I want to play it, as I've been a Halo fan for many years, but I've been pretty leery of Microsoft in recent years.

I'm eagerly awaiting Nintendo's showcase on Tuesday, as that is my primary gaming system. I'm really hoping to see if Nintendo has anything to show for Metroid Prime 4, but it's been a few years since it was first announced & the game development was moved to a different studio and restarted since then... But I'm still hoping for SOMETHING. Also more Pokemon stuff.

Ive been on PC since this winter,so Im just re playing a bunch of old titles Ive previously beat on console.

I honestly havent even finished the dex. I did dens n hatched eggs til I grew sick of the game unfortunately. Bit I got some good breeders as a result

I'm definitely going to get Forza Horizon 5. I've been playing the Horizon series from the start and it is one of my favorite games. I prefer open world racing games. Some people are mad because it is going to be set in Mexico instead of Japan, I could care less.

I'm interested to see more Outer Worlds 2 info. I liked the original game even though it was kind of short.

Atomic Heart looks like it will be good as well.

WHAAAA? How did I not know this was a thing? I dunno what to be more shocked over- a new Ecco the Dolphin-style game or the fact that Intellivision is releasing a new console. I won't buy one, but it's definitely different & seems like it's really going after the couch co-op market.

Nintendo's direct just got done. My personal highlights:

- Mario Party Superstars. Basically a greatest hits from Mario Party. Supports online play. This would be great for my us & my bro and his wife, who are a thousand miles away.

- Metroid Dread. 2D Metroid game with horror/suspense elements. They just mentioned in their Treehouse live stream that it's a sequel to Metroid Fusion (and the suit shows it). Looks pretty good! Super excited for it. It's not Metroid Prime 4 though... Releases later this year.

- Breath of the Wild 2. Nothing in terms of story was revealed, but lots of visual/environmental stuff was shown. Lots of floating islands and some new abilities were shown. Release date sometime in 2022.

I'm looking forward to Mario Party, hopefully it will have a bit more value than the current iteration. I still have yet to play BOTW, but I hear nothing but great things. I'm excited for Metroid Dread! I loved Fusion and I still have a soft sport for Metroidvania types and side-scrollers. I was looking forward to Prime 4, but as I still haven't played 2 or 3 yet that gives me some extra time

Honestly, I am too. Metroid and Zelda are awesome, but not much else. No Pokémon? WTF. Nintendo dropped the ball a bit here.

Yeah, after thinking about it some more, I guess my main gripe is that they either needed to show more than what they did with their two heavy-hitters (Zelda, Metroid), or they should've showed something from another big IP, like Pokemon. If they did either of those things it would have been a significantly better showcase.

Counterpoint though: I spoke with my brother about this just a bit ago, and he brought up an interesting point. Nintendo showed off a LOT of actual gameplay. He watched the Xbox/Bethesda showcase (I did not), and he said it was a very stark contrast. Microsoft would put together a bunch of cinematic trailers with little/no actual gameplay. He said he'd rather see actual gameplay than some flashy cinematics, which is really what we should be paying attention to. With that logic, I can agree with him that Nintendo actually did a decent job with their Direct.

I dunno. I'm torn. But I'm probably gonna pick up Metroid. Between that and the gen 4 Pokemon remakes gaming is going to suck up a lot of my spare time this winter.

My biggest thing was I was hoping for a new switch announcement cause I've been holding off on getting one through all of covid, I think I might just give up and pick up a lite, I was at least hoping for a limited edition switch or lite for skyward sword or pokemon diamond pearl remakes I mean they used to have limited edition everything for their handheld devices why stop now?

I've been pining for anything Metroid, especially since I revived my GameCube, so I'm happy enough.

I played the shit out of Pokemon Red/Blue and I think I played Pearl, but the new Pokemon games don't hook me. I think I was disappointed in Go so it turned me off of the series in general.

From what I understand, the new gen 4 remakes are straight remakes. Meaning they're NOT updating them to current gen mechanics. It's going to be a gen 4 metagame through & through. Basically, it's getting a fresh coat of paint and the usual internet improvements, but that's it.
Yeah, the newer games haven't been as good. Gen 6 (X & Y) was actually quite good though, if a bit easy. If you wanna try a newer game that'd be the one to try.

When the series took the 3d route it started to fall off I liked I played Gen 1,2,3 for a stupid amount of time, I fell off for Gen 4&5 and then picked up x&y, and it brought the nostalgia back so when oras came out I fell in love I bought sun/moon but tried to play it and couldn't get into it, eventually I bought a used copy of black/white and) but never got to play diamond/pearl so I'm happy to see the remake come
