Picked up Armored Core 6 this week. Only had time for the first level, but I can already tell this is gonna be a tough one for me.

Robocop Rogue City - PS5. I’m a few hours in & loving it so far. It could easily pass for a PS4 or Xbox One game & some of those cutscenes are straight out of the 360 but gameplay wise it’s right on the money. I was worried the constant thud of Robocop’s footsteps would become irritating pretty quick but it hasn’t. Not sure if it supplants Robocop vs Terminator as my favorite but when it’s all said & done it might.
Super Mario Wonder. Only a couple of worlds in & so far i haven’t been wowed. Everything about it is Rick solid. It’s just not really exceptional….yet. I’ve barely scratched the surface though.

just got back into it last month. I finished BG3 on tactician with a wood (half) elf druid as my custom, Shadowheart, Astarion, and Lae’zel. And now I’m going through the recent horror aaa games that were knocked out of the park: I just finished RE4r a couple of weeks ago — I’m getting ready to play Deadspace remake — and then its onto Alan Wake 2.

I LOVED Alan Wake 1, I hope 2 stands up.

@Jonnydread
The consensus is that it does. And apart from the stellar gameplay and storytelling it is probably in the top 3 most "next gen" games, graphically. I need to upgrade my video card to a 40xx to play it with all of the ray tracing settings cranked up.

Since I'm a Nintendo and classic JRPG fanboy, I just picked up the Super Mario RPG remake. I'm cruising through it, but I'm enjoying it a lot.💀 PK x Ragnastock 💀

Getting that for my boys for Christmas. Looking forward to playing that myself, lol.
Most things I read about it are positive, but I’m still not 100% sold. Loved the original, but not sold on the art style. Maybe it’ll mesh with things better than I expect.
-
glaman5266 the art style is def. a little strange, the characters look kind of chibi and "squat", but I'm over it. Game play is solid and some of the new mechanics are kind of interesting.

Played through Baldur's Gate 3, had a short travel break. Now going through Cyberpunk 2077, 3rd time on the main campaign, and first time on Phantom Liberty. Then, probably back to Baldur's Gate for a Durge playthrough.Originally posted by Tom Kaye, in response to FS price critics:
Unfortunately all of you have played the one "speedball" game of paintball for so long you can't conceive of other ways to do this and hence any new ideas seem stupid.

Nice. My girl's obsessed with BG3, shes on her third playthrough. I havent played Cyberpunk 2077 yet. But I got it recently on sale right before the 2.0 overhaul and expansion came out. Im just waiting until I get a proper ray tracing 40xx+ card to play it with all settings cranked up. Same with Alan Wake 2.

I've been bouncing around between Baldur's Gate 3 (1st play-through), City Skylines, and Dark Souls 1/3. BG3 is awesome- the biggest issue I have with it is that I don't want to finish it. I have an aversion to playing story heavy games multiple times, even though I know in this case there are a million options that I haven't even seen. Skylines is cool, but... eh? and DS is great, even as much as I hate it at times. Trying a sorcerer this time though instead of the usual big stick go bonk build.

cellophane I’m not much good at DkS3. I can’t solo that to save my life. The one time I played through it I did 95% of it co-op with family. It’s too fast & borderline BS for my reflexes. Sorry I can’t help you there. That’s definitely a “git gud” game & I didn’t, lol.
But if you hit DkS1 harder feel free to hit me up if you’re struggling.

How far through Elden Ring did you make it? I've found DS3 to be a good balance point between DS and ER in terms of the 'git gud' aspects. Lots of bosses in ER are ridiculous in terms of speed, delayed attacks (bane of my existence), and insane combos.
As for the camera boss- the general game camera is awful, especially in the early games. I've gotten stuck on terrain and then died so many times it isn't funny... Currently stuck on Abyss Watchers... and I've cleared everything up to that point, so I can't really go back and slog out levels either.
-
cellophane I've beaten ER (STR/FAI build) & am probably 60% of the way through it a second time (caster). There are some nasty boss fights, but nothing like in DkS3 in my opinion. It's funny though- many of the bosses that people commonly complain about I cruise through & ones that people say are easy I tend to struggle with.
I tend to play defensively & ER introduced Guard Counters & seems more friendly for defensive playstyles than DkS3. I can pretty much handle the game solo, barring Maliketh & Malenia. DkS3 is way too fast for me & tanking is seemingly impossible, at least in my experience. ER seems to allow for more defensive play styles & I thoroughly enjoy that.

Finished Robocop Rogue City last weekend. I really wish there was something to do beyond the campaign. Some kind of street crime mode where all you do is walk around Detroit stopping bank robberies, car jackings, muggings, etc would be super fun. Can’t decide on what to play next. I picked up The Callisto Protocol a while back & that’s what I’m leaning towards. I loved the original Dead Space.

@cellophane
Those are steam screenshots (F12 unless you rebinded) The first two are early cutscenes, the first is with my guardian and the last is a regular gameplay steam screenshot with the UI hidden (F10 for Photo mode /hide UI)
I posed my characters after Shadowheart fulfills her questline.
Edit: I posted one with my party in action. I forgot the npc’s name in the keep in act 2 but I’m sure you remember that fight where you have to prevent her death otherwise the protection spell casts off and the whole keep succumbs to the shadow curse (hence why I’m surrounding her and have a Moon beam strategically placed)
-
the_matrix_guy gotcha. I don't have any cutscene shots, but I'll try to grab some. I have made some choices along the way that have... altered my appearance. I'll look for an old save for the unaltered look.

cellophane hold on lets make a bg3 discussion thread, that way we can post pics and shiz

Hobbes , I think #2 was harder, #1 is easier since you only have to jump or dodge. No parry mechanics.
So far the dlc is good. 100'd the first and second, started the third. Excited to finish and move onto miles.

I did make some improvements against the range attacks. During the mission with Black Cat I hid behind cover to take the ground troops out then pulled in the ranged guys before taking out the last turrets.
Miles was great, I thought the graphics were a nice improvement over the first game and overall it had me more engaged.

Finished up another playthrough of Metroid Prime Remastered. That game is just soooooo good.
And I restarted Metroid Dread. Want to finally finish that, hopefully by Christmas.

Same. I've tried to beat it like 3 times, but I get so frustrated with the last boss and rage out.
-
Yeah, my new playthrough is on Rookie mode. I can make it up to Big Birb on Normal but that guy's a huge skill check. More than what I'm wanting to work for.
I'll say this for Rookie/easy mode on Prime Remastered though- it has great pacing IMO. And no getting hung up on the Omega Pirate or Metroid Prime & it retains a lot of the fun of a normal playthrough. I've beaten it once back in the day; I'll just have fun cruising through it at this point.

Just started playing the Resident Evil 2 remake on Xbox One this past weekend. So friggin good. Not crazy about how many headshots it takes to put down the average zombie or how your knife has a limited lifespan. It does give every encounter an air of tension though, since you’re never sure you’re prepared for what may or may not be behind the next door.

Premium, in-wrapping games can get that high. Something like that isn't the norm. Several years back an original, unopened copy of Pokemon Red sold for like $58K or something at a video game auction. At that same auction a sealed copy of SMB3 sold for something like $3.5M if I remember correctly. What you've posted is either a scam or it's a one in a million item & thus not the norm.
Some games though, are crazy high. I'm willing to spring for a copy of Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2 for the Gamecube, but I know it's not going to be cheap. (if anyone knows where I can get a copy let me know! ) I bought a not-so-minty copy of Chrono Trigger (SNES) from the local game shop for $110, and that was before covid. I don't want to know what that would run now. Same game shop a few months back had DKC3 in-box with instructions for ~$350.
I'm somewhat of a collector, but I'm one who actually uses the games & I'm selective about what I buy. I have no use for a NIB copy of some old game just to make my shelf look pretty.

Maybe look into getting an Action Replay Plus cart. It lets you play import games & if you get one that’s flashed with Pseudo Saturn you can play burned discs. A lot of the Japanese copies of games are way cheaper since the Saturn sold so much better over there. RPGs will probably not be an option because of the language barrier but a lot of the Japanese games have enough English that they’re totally playable. GameStop actually has Saturn games listed on their website for decent prices but I’d guess you’re probably getting loose discs.
