Finally picked up Pokémon Violet. First mainline Pokémon game since Sapphire. Literally spent all day playing it today haha. I think I liked arceus a bit better, but the scale of violet makes up for it.
Also started playing Don’t Starve Together every Wednesday with one of my old college friends and his roommates. Only played it twice now but it’s a lot of fun.

So. I started poking at the demo for Granvir. It's being featured on the Steam " what's next" showcase.
It's not yet released, but the demo is up for grabs.
It's a rougelette mech game where you build and customize your mech from scavenged battlefield parts as you trudge across the map. The more you do in levels the higher you get your escalation numbers which scales game difficulty.
I can see myself buying this onthis it releases under $30

It’s worth mentioning that this game has quite a bit of filler though and they stretched it a bit. If they would’ve have done 100% turn based — the game would be twice as long like Baldur’s Gate 3. Some of the battles can drag on forever. Even a battle with low level enemies can be ridiculously long waiting for every character to turn.
A lot of RPG games have modernized their combat systems in the past ten or so years. You can definitely see the western influence on FF7 remake. Namely aaa open world games like The Witcher 3 (similar combat system) and Fallout 4. And that’s a good thing. I think there are plenty of isometric turn based strategy out there. I actually prefer RTS and this new wave and evolution of RPG into action RPG. Once you learn the combat systems it makes the battles feel more real and immersive and everything flows better.Last edited by the_matrix_guy; 07-22-2024, 02:27 PM.

My wife has been playing Destiny 2 with someone she works with. I've played it for about a hour so far and don't know how I feel about it yet.
