Bought a Raspberry Pi game system

So came across a Raspberry Pi pre loaded plug and play arcade emulator @ RetroArcadeCrafts.com and just had to have it. I’ve been meaning to get a Pi for quite a few years and was planning on learning to code it to emulate old games. For the price and what it offered with it I just figured I’d buy it and learn on the fly with it. Got it yesterday and it works like a charm, played for quite a few hours last night with my co-worker jamming out to Contra, NES Hockey and a few other classics. Anyone else running a Pi and any recommendations of software or other things to run on it?

I've built several Pi based systems so far (a few mini-consoles and one handheld system). Depending on the Pi you got, you should be able to emulate everything up to Playstation without issue with the exception of N64 and Saturn. Those two systems are more difficult to emulate and performance is typically poor. If your Pi is connected via Ethernet and you're a PC gamer too, you could always install the Steam Link software to play games on your TV. If you have a media library or if you want to stream video using plug-ins, Kodi is a very good application to install as well.

One of these days, I'm going to build an arcade cabinet around a raspberry pi.

microcenter (at least in my area - atlanta) is having a big discount on their unassembled cabs. bar tops are 50% off, 3/4 and full sized stand up cabs were 40% off.

I made a custom MAME cabinet probably 17yrs ago, two player 7 buttons street fighterish config, twin sticks for bothering players, one with top button for Battlezone and tron, spinner, trackball and two rotary joys for Imari warriors. It was awesome and loaded with 3500 roms downloaded via 56k. Only thing it didn’t have was a decent sized monitor since a 17” was huge and expensive back then. This one came with a Raspberry Pi 4 4g 128g micro sd and 2 wireless PlayStation controllers. Comes loaded with all the software and roms for Ps1, Dreamcast,N64 and all the models before those plus like every other console released here and overseas. I am honestly thinking about building a cabinet for this and buying a 24” monitor for it as I have all the usb controller pin boards and all my old buttons and joysticks. I am very impressed with this thing so far and pretty sure in the one day I’ve shared pics of the games I’ve been playing four of my buddies are ordering these.

I have enjoyed mine the few times I have used it. I had been planning on installing it into a door with 4 arcade style stick and button set ups. Wanted to hook it up to a projector so a group of us could play the old multi-player arcade games, Gauntlet, Xenophobe, Smash T.V. etc.
