I have no stake in VR (or much interest at all, really) but just thought I’d toss this out there.

In a nutshell, FB will be requiring that you actually have FB in order to even USE their Oculus units, despite earlier claims that they wouldn’t. Not that it’ll affect them much, but it’s still pretty crappy & anti-consumer. But after all, they know what their business plan should be... We’re just the resources.

I really want to get into vr at some point, and was really liking the rift s. But, the reverb G2 seems like it will end up being a better product and better company, so I'll probably swing that way.

If you deactivate your Facebook account instead of permanently deleting it, you also won't be able to access any of your Oculus information. However, this can be reversed by reactivating it, while the deletion method does not have an "undo." If you make a new account, you'll have to purchase all that content again.

Fecesbook can pound sand. Wish they'd get sued into oblivion and all proceeds distributed as economic relief. That'd be $2,200 per person in the US minus the cost of actually doing it.

Yeah, after seeing how they’re contaminating the gaming industry with their filth I’m finally deleting my FB account. We already have enough BS with microtransactions and other crappy business tactics. We don’t need this too.

It just sucks that it likely won’t hurt their bottom line with how much FB is already part of people’s lives. We also need to remember/realize that virtually every player in big tech is doing the same thing... But that’s a different conversation.

Every player is not doing the same thing. The 'what-about-ism' and 'both-sides' phrases going around the past few years are just a rebranding of the formal logical fallacy referred to as 'false equivalence'.

Both companies are out to obtain & market our data for profit. Both companies try constantly to bring in new users. Google is the "lesser" of the two evils (per your article), but to think that Google does not share or sell your data & truly let you opt out of stuff is straight-up dumb. Every big tech player does it- some are just worse than others & FB is the worst one. They're driven by data & it's a huge money maker. Some random new company may come along in the future & be an absolute saint in the tech industry, but I'm not going to believe a damn word they say. Might be false equivalence, but they all still use & abuse our data, regardless of the extent.

I see what you're saying... But only to a point. Definitely not enough to put much faith in Google or any other "nicer" players.
