    Streaming Local News

This is basically the only reason we pay for a streaming service that includes local stations.

Saw Haystack offers the local news station. Anyone use that app and have feedback?

Are you not able to receive local stations via antenna? No reason to pay to stream local channels when OTA is free. The FCC DTV reception map, and Antenna Man on YouTube are both good resources.

We had horrible luck with the antenna we tried.

I would check the FCC map that I linked above and see where the towers are. If you type in your zip code and it shows a bunch of green channels, you should be getting them. You may need to adjust your antenna placement, or simply buy a better antenna. It is a pain to set up, but once you get the equipment and put in the effort, it's free. No more monthly fees for streaming services, and it works even if your internet connection goes out.

If you want to get fancy, there are even network TV tuners such as the SiliconDust HDHomeRun or Tablo. You'd buy the box, connect an antenna to it, hook it up to your wireless router, and then you can use their app to stream TV from your antenna to your phones, tablets, etc.when you're at home on your local network. They even have multiple tuners, a dual tuner model means two devices on the network can watch different channels from the tuner at the same time.

Maybe the leaf or what ever the name of the antenna we tried is just garbage. WSPA is green for our area but we couldn't get it at all. We will have to look into OTA more.

I’m unable to get any channels OTA, so I use the NewsOn app on my Roku TV. I get all my local news as well as news from any other city I need.

My local news has their own app that we have on our Roku. Considering how small the station is here in rural Maine, there is a good chance your local station does the same. It is worth looking into.

I was just coming here to type the same thing. Small town new england channels have Apps for TV, too.

I just bury my head in the sand and ignore local news. My wife will tell me what to do if it is something "important"
