I just got one of those Google TV enabled Chromecast last week (the one that has the remote...) and I heard that you can do some light gaming on it. So I installed Retroarch and put in a 16gig thumb drive full of 8 &16 bit games. Paired an extra PS4 Dualshock4 controller with it and played a couple of hours of retro gaming. Noice.
I also heard that you can sideloaad Stadia but it wasn't a great experience since it wasn't optimized for this Chromecast yet. It must have been an early build they used because all I had was a buttery smooth experience at 1080p on Destiny 2 along with non-game breaking lag. Also played the my best Bomberman Online game since I started playing that too!
While this isn't an emulation powerhouse, like a Raspberry Pi 4 or stronger, it has its strengths in being a full Google TV experience along with playing a ton of great games too.
(Google says the new Chromecast will be officially Stadia compatible in 2021 so there's that...)
