Anyone play? A buddy of mine sent me some game footage and it looks wild. Super in-depth shooter looks right up my ally. I’m thinking about skipping the New BR COD and spending some time on Tarkov. Learning curve I bet is steep. But I love skill based games. It’s been out a while but I’m new to PC gaming.

Yes I have it. Been a little bit since I played. I can say that this game is very stressful. If you like that then this is for you. It has a significant learning curve, not so much on the mechanics, you will learn those, and there are many, but how to be successful at this game is quite challenging.
It is as brutal a shooter as it can get. You can spend a good bit of time in your inventory setting up, trading, looking at gear. Then spending 30 seconds in game and be killed in 1 shot losing all your gear .
It can be a ton of fun if you like that ultra survival part. Learn to accept this is not a game about continually gaining something, but more about enjoying the survival shooter experience. Gear is highly valuable and at the same time worthless. You can go from nothing to the best gear in the game, and within that same moment lose everything.
How to have fun in Tarkov is just enjoying what you are doing at that moment and don't care about the gear or "winning" because there is no winning in this game. It is a fantastic shooter experience with the arguably best shooter mechanics.
Tarkov giveth and Tarkov taketh away.

i'm watching a streamer and it reminds me of the very first ghost recon release for xbox; lots of strategy and patience.
i would want to play this but i'm a mac only guy and the last time i bought a PC just to play games, i lost 6 months of my life...
here's a link of the stream:

I really haven’t had the time I thought I would to invest in gaming like this lately. Between work, preparing my current house for sale, and building a new one. I’m lucky to carve out an hr or two after the kids go to bed. I do want to try this game but I don’t think I have the time to invest into it.

There is going to be a pretty big update soon. Moving to the newer Unity build, as well as a major cheating exploit has been "fixed". The game is going in a great direction, but I wouldn't rush it too much.
There is no end game and the quests are there just to give you something to do, with some progression. So as far as finding time, don't worry too much about it, it will get better. I'm enjoying my limited time by playing as a Scav, just exploring, and doing some looting with the occasional fight. Far less stressful than playing as the PMC and trying to progress, since at this point it is very hard to compete with other players that have much better ammo.

That Battle Net website is the worst. I can’t believe how many people are not only ok with cheating but will pay massive amounts of money to cheat. They got to be making more money on the game exploits then they do the actual games. People asking to make the cheats invisible so they can stream while they cheat. Who wants to watch a bunch of hacks? Its bad enough that content creators get preference to low skilled lobbies. But they want to cheat on top of it. It’s crazy how far the aimbots have come. They can turn them up or down with a key stroke. See threw walls. I don’t get it what’s the fun in that.
Battlefield V got nuked with hacks. It’s basically unplayable.
WarZone its become way more common especially when you get put into the higher skill rooms. Cuz the hacks look like heroes to the skill based algorithm.
It’s just sad how many people are ok with cheating today.
I get people sell accounts with full unlocks for a decent amount but how many accounts can you possibly max out at @ $50 a weak.

The tarkov hack was/is a texture modification which is undetectable. You can make walls invisible, put super tall hats on players, color them bright colors, etc... This is the hack that is being fixed, maybe with the next update or sooner, dunno.
Tarkov is still a Beta so unfortunately aggressive hacks will stay around. It baffles me this industry, or that there even is one, especially for a shooter. I guess people will pay money for anything.
There was a wipe on Dec 25th. By now though majority of the playerbase is pretty well leveled, but I do see a lot of low level players in the lobby, such as myself. You will face fully geared and top tier armor players though. It just means you need to play very smart, and sometimes you get lucky and suddenly you have top tier gear!
But we are past the all pistols and low gear stage.
This is where just enjoying playing and not worrying about winning will bring the most enjoyment out of Tarkov. I will say if you really do like the game wait for the next big sale and buy the EOD edition. It has been confirmed that it will be retired and it does help a lot in being competitive with the larger gamma container (all your healing items can fit).
There is a theory that at some point the popularity will normalize and then the game will become more of a survival shooter again. It is just on a high population swing right now.
